I haven't actually walked IN to it myself (just BY it), but first of all, it is one of the places where you can find Santa (he is also at all three DLR hotels, I just learned). Also, Mrs. Claus is there. I think there are some animals and reindeer back there. You can buy little holiday knick knacks. You can decorate/frost your own (rather large) cookies, which is fun for kids. I think there may be some other crafts as well. Sounds kind of fun.

Santa's Reindeer Roundup has several fun things happening. Starting from the "West" end of the Ranch, You walk in and see the cabin that Santa is visiting in. That's the line you'll probably see. On your right, 8 of his Reindeer have joined him while he and the Mrs. visit Miss Chris at her Ranch. No, you cannot pet them. Children plus antlers.... well, you get the point. Or they would.

Heading over to the East end, there are several tables set up for use. Kids of all ages can color Reindeer Roundup pages, or their own set of reindeer. On the far right, you can purchase cookies for decorating, and other little snacks. At the stage, Miss Chris, the owner of the ranch has invited many of her friends to come play and entertain her Guests, including Farley the Fiddler, Mild Bill, and a few of her magician friends (including Johnny Ace Palmer, and John George). Joinging in the fun are Pluto, Chip and Dale, Clarabelle Cow, and of course, Mrs. Claus. But don't expect them to stay still, they like to play and interact a LOT! Also helping out at the Ranch are Miss Chris' Jolly Ranchers, who can help you with picture taking, or getting everyond involved with whatever game or song Miss Chris is singing or playing.

Each day, Miss Chris lights the Ranch Christmas Tree with the help of her musician friend, and maybe a brief little stop in by Pluto and another young friend. The lighting is pure chills down your spine, as you use a bit of Santa's Christmas Magic to help Miss Chris out.

It really is a lot of fun, and is a great place to sit down and rest when you need to take a break from the rest of the park.

Where is it?

In Frontierland, over in the Big Thunder Ranch area. During Halloweentime it becomes Woody's Halloween Round-up, and then becomes the Reindeer Round-up for the holidays. I think it would be cool to turn it into an Easter round-up of some kind in the future, too! You know, have the Easter Bunny there and let the kids decorate eggs and what not.

The cookies are $6 each and are very large. You have a coice of gingerbread men, or sugar trees or snowmen. It come with two 2oz containers of frosting- one yello and one green. three small cups of toppings- one with mini m&ms, one yello sprinles and one red. Very cute and very yummy. When we were there, Pluto, Chip, Dale and Clara Belle were out visitng the kids and helping them make their crafts. The whole thing is free except for the cookies

Thanks for the info! Might have to check it out.

I'm trying to come up with our 2 day plan, but feeling very overwhelmed. We've only gone for one day before, so being there 2 makes me feel like I have lots more time, but don't want to miss anything. What park to start in on what day, where to eat, which rides to go to first, which parade to watch and when, what show to go to......AHHHH!!!!!

I can certainly understand where you are coming from! The planning for a DLR trip can be alternately exhilarating and maddening, especially when you have limited time like you will have, and you feel the need to squeeze in a bunch of stuff because you may not get back to DLR any time soon. You start out by thinking 2 days - or even 3 days - sounds like a lot, but when you get ready to go home, you list off all the things in your head that you didn't get to do/ride/see/eat/take pictures of..... I work myself into a frenzy just over the dining Priority Seating plans, let alone anything else! I am trying to coordinate things so that everybody has a good time and everyone is accommodated in terms of eating somewhere where we all can eat, etc. (like some folks don't like Mexican food or seafood, for example, so we rule out things like that). I will sit and stare at a list of restaurants - old ones that we like and new ones we want to try - and try to work them into a logical schedule, making sure this meal is not too close to that one, making sure that if so and so joins us at X time and only wants to eat at the hotel and not go in the parks we have a hotel meal planned rather than a park meal, making sure I eat by a certain time in the morning before my blood sugar starts going crazy, etc. It can drive you nuts. It takes me a long time before I come up with a dining schedule I am satisfied with which will make everyone happy! And I always end up leaving DLR with a lot of things I didn't get to do.

I would suggest that you make one list of all the things you and your companions want to do - anything you can possibly think of, write it on the list, in order of land or however you want to organize it. This way, you will always have something to do in case you hit one of those lulls where you start asking each other, "So what do you want to do next?" (We all hit them sooner or later.) Then, make an alternate list of JUST the MUST-SEE's. These are the things that, no matter what - rain or shine, earthquake, hideous crowds, nuclear attack - you are going to do! In other words, you cannot miss these things before you go back home, just in case you don't make it back for a while. This way, if you get to DLR and things don't go as planned (we all start out with lofty goals!), or the crowds are too horrible, or someone gets sick, or whatever happens to slow you down, then at the very least you can hit your MUST list and feel satisfied that you got to do the most imprtant things.

Good luck, and have fun - with planning and on the DLR trip!!!

Here's a few pix from RR last year. Haven't been there yet this year.

The Reindeer Round-Up looks pretty festive! I might have to poke my head in and see what's what this year. From looking at those photos, now I can see where some of the 700 Christmas trees went which are displayed around DLR! I was tyring to think where in the world they could stick 700 trees in DLR, and I had counted out about 10 or 12 locations that I knew of for sure, and I was assuming that many of them may be hidden in shops and restaurants, but I see that Santa's Reindeer Round-Up has several of them!

In front of Reindeer Roundup, on the Santa/reindeer side, they have the pardoned turkeys from Thanksgiving. They usually have the 2 that were pardoned, but I only saw 1 of them today.
They also have a cow named Maggie in front of Santa's cabin. I guess she's a Christmas cow.

I remember a few years back, they had both turkeys, but they would only put them in the viewing area for a few days at a time to allow the turkeys to destress from the crowds. Essentially, they took turns deling with the gawkers, and then got a break. The first year they were out, they were both out all the time, and then one year it changed.

We spent some time there this past week, and it was a lot of fun. The magician doing one of the shows was quite good. The kids enjoyed the games & craft things, as well as talking to Mrs. Claus (we didn't stand in the 30 min. line to see Santa).
