Regulating gift cards

OP--Are you concerned that DS is downloading material that might be inappropriate? My children (age 11 and 13) also each got itouch for Christmas and we have run across apps that are not appropriate for children--including things that are nearly pornographic. As far as we can tell there is no way to implement "parental controls" over what is purchased from itunes other than sitting beside the children as they shop. Does anyone know of a way to restrict inappropriate downloads from itunes.

My daughter's is attached to my account. This way I have to see all purchases and can approve them before they are made. It is a little cumbersome sometimes making sure that I don't get apps I don't want when I sync mine but that aggravation is a small thing compared to accessing inappropriate material. I agree that it's their money and this is a low-risk setting for them to learn a valuable lesson. While I would let them spend every bit of it I would want veto rights on certain apps. Some of what is out there is inappropriate.

Thanks everyone foir the great advice

He's got them back with a small (very small) warning that when the money's gone, the moneys gone.

He's pretty good (or has been so far) with getting appropriate songs. Before he was tied to my account so he always had to ask permission to purchase.

We set him up with his own account on Christmas so he could use his gift cards.

Happy new years and thanks for the help.
