Hi.
I would like to purchase my grandson a regular yellow MB but only see + on the website.
Where the heck can I purchase the regular one color band? I have older ones so haven't had to purchase in quite a while, at least before the MB+ came out.

Thank you.

We took 3 different trips to WDW last year and with each trip I saw less and less of the old Magic Bands in the stores there available to purchase. My guess is they are phasing the old MB's out and you might only have the option to buy the MB+.

I can't even find a bunch of solid colors, I want yellow but will get red if I have to.

I wonder if I should just wait and get them at the BW when I go next month and see if they have at check in or at General Store.
I'm guessing I can purchase one of those places.

Also, what happens if we didn't charge the MB+. Would we still get into the parks?

I just want a regular yellow MB, I can't even purchase a plain yellow MB+.

Just annoying, thank you all for letting me vent and ask my questions LOL

Yes it will still work, just not for the special features like galaxys edge, statues.

It is a shame that we can't find these as the MB+ are thicker and we don't like the feel on our wrists.

We take the puck out now and use a holder on our watches.

I can't even find a solid color like red or yellow.
Those old generic color bands are no longer available (original MB, and MB 2).

The MagicBand+ are the current options and they are available at all retail locations in WDW. A very limited selection of MB+ are also available with your resort reservation for a discounted price.

Yes the Screen Door store on the BW also has a selection of MB+ as well as the Gift stores are the YC and BC. There are also a wide selection at the larger stores at Epcot, HS, MK, and AK.

Yes it will work for payments, park access, and to tap in at attraction LL.

Without a charged battery advanced interactive features don't work, and attraction photos are not automatically available. But you can use your smartphone if you enable Bluetooth and have MDE open on your smartphone.

Unfortunately, as others have mentioned, you cannot buy the "old" MB's anymore, Disney has phased them out of inventory. eBay may have some, however since it's been so long since they have been manufactured, the battery may no longer work. You would still be able to use some of the features that are "touch related" like opening your room or charging back to your account. Things like automatically linking photo pass won't work (the more long range functions). If you do buy from eBay, make sure it is new, unlinked, and in the original packaging. Also check the seller's ratings. I've bought a few MB's on eBay and they worked fine.

FYI... I don't know about everyone else, but I find that the MB+ bands don't stay on as well as the old MB's. I purchased on Amazon these Magic Band holders that slide on and work well.

If you buy on-site it will be a MB+ so be ready for that. They appeared to have completely phased out the old kind everywhere I looked last month.

This is highly recommended. Many report MB+ falling off and some getting lost as guest does not realize it has fallen off. Buying these are highly recommended.

My daughters have non-plus MBs that were new in 2022. That was still when they had both styles available to purchase. By comparison, Hubby and I were still rocking free 2019 bands as of this year's trip.

Even with 3 folks wearing new(er) old style bands, I found that almost none of the autoload ride photos hit any of our accounts during our Nov 2024 trip. I would go on each evening and put in a request for missing photos from the day before, rides like Slinky and Frozen where there's no way to tap. While they did eventually find all of my ride photos within a couple days of the end of my trip, having to go request them like that was a pain.

I'd guess that any bands on eBay are at least that old or even older because they stopped offering them soon thereafter. So, probably best to assume that any old style MB aren't going to have consistent photo pass linking at this point.

Sorry but no only a MB (with battery life) or smartphone.

You can however use an Apple Watch or Android device for park entry and to tap in for LL but you do need to setup the MagicMobile service in MDE first using this link for more information: https://disneyworld.disney.go.com/guest-services/magic-mobile/

Thanks I knew we could tap in but photos never linked which is why we would take out the puck and attach it to the watch.

Now we know why we missed a few photos :)

Well you can always request a search for your photos and they should pop up within a couple of days (while you are still at WDW) and not weeks later as some guests expect. @TheOneWithTheTriplets posted above about their plan of requesting them nightly with works well and yes it is a royal pain but it works.

Thanks we were able to get them back. They kept promoting the apple watch was just like a magic band but obviously not.

Thank you. I also take the puck out and use on my Apple watch band. I use an old puck.

Thank you so much. My dd and ds (now 31 and 26 still use the first MB and they work fine. They don't need the pictures and they still work. This new MB is for my 3 1/2 year old grandson. I purchased a red MB+ and paid $35 :headache: for what use to be included.
It should come this week and I'll link to his ticket that is already on MDE.

Thank you for this information especially since my grandson will be wearing the MB. I have a few DVC sliders and will bring one especially for his MB. I appreciate your commenting on this since I wouldn't have thought to bring one for him. Thank you.

I think this has been mentioned earlier, but you may want to look into buying a Magic Band "keeper" for your grandson. The MB+ version tends to come unclipped and fall off. Both of mine have done this, fortunately the person walking behind me noticed and returned it to me. The other time we were in the hotel room, I found it on the carpet (didn't hear it hit the floor). You can find them on Etsy or Amazon for a few dollars. Definitely worth it!
