Regretting buying BLT direct from Disney.

After looking at resales, I can't believe the deals out there even on the smaller contracts. I *knew* when BLT was built that I'd only ever want to stay there (unless it was unavailable). Kicking myself now. The resale listings are pretty great comparatively.

I really wouldn't beat yourself up. You bought what you wanted - and you still have a great product. Obviously, at the time it was worth to you what you paid for it. That worth to you shouldn't change just because you learned that someone paid less as a resale.

Additionally, you are getting more than a resale purchase would because of the restrictions they put on resale purchases this year. So what you purchased does have more value than a resale, depending on how you look at it.

I would put it out of your mind - and stop reading resale listings unless you are in the market to buy more.

We bought BLT direct a few years back, then wanted to add on within 6 months. Put an offer in on a resale and seller accepted our offer but did not sign papers for 2 weeks at which time I withdrew the offer. After doing the math, closing costs (resale)and the prior years points that came with direct buy we were only saving a few hundred dollars which really was not worth the hassle. We added on direct. Of course since we bought prices for BLT have gone crazy! Resale is about the same.

I agree I would not beat yourself up I for one am thrilled with my purchase and have used our points for 2 - stays in a 2 bedroom at BLT, 1 week @ OKW, 1 ni @ AKV, and we will be staying for 10 nights in THV in Feb!!! YEA Enjoy

It's easy to beat yourself up after any major purchase. Sooner or later you have to make the plunge!

I'll bet most of us own a HD TV that is selling for half of what we paid for it.

Thanks. You guys all make some great points! I just wish we hadn't jumped the gun.

We could by resale right now at BLT on the cheap.

Still, your comments helped. :)

You can buy an OKW or SSR contract for under $50 pp point right now and easily stay at BLT most of the time, as long as you aren't picky about views. For me, I'll take the lake view and save $20,000. I would guess that much of the time, MK views are also avaialbe at 7 months.

You think it is bad now, wait until you buy that initial contract at VGF for $200/point! :scared1: :lmao:

True dat. I just booked BLT with MK view at the 7 month window. Using my (relatively) inexpensive SSR points.

Same vacation, less money.

I felt we got a good deal when we bought into SSR at $79 pp. We were really excited. I have never followed resale figures as we have not been considering adding on untile we paid off our DVC. We did pay it off early a few years back, but as the economy went south, I did not feel comfortable adding-on. I would love to add on 50 points, I think we would be perfect with that number, but, it's still not the time

I know points have always been cheaper for resale, but didnt know you could get for $50 pp. Wow

OK....:surfweb:we have always wanted to get into DVC, and @ the time it was right to get into BLT, with no regets!!! We Love DVC!!!;)

I figure that either you didn't know about the resale market when you bought, or was leery of buying from someone other than Disney.

If you didn't know about resale, then it's hard to have regrets about something you weren't aware of. You made your purchase decision based on the Disney numbers and it made sense to you. No need to revisit the purchase decision if you're happy with your DVC membership.

If you knew about the resale market and weren't comfortable buying from someone other than Disney, that makes sense too. I think there's a perception that buying resale might entail more risk than buying from a reputable company like Disney. Some people just feel more comfortable with a direct purchase than the resale market. Again, no need to beat yourself up over that.

It is what it is, and you should focus energy on enjoying your membership rather than regretting the purchase process. I hope your decades of ownership are full of fun and loving memories. :)
