Regrets on Resort choice based on price not desire?

For our upcoming trip we originally booked POFQ as we love this resort. That was before free dining was offered. Once FD was announced we called immediately but was told there were no available rooms left with FD at FQ. We were offered POR, CSR, or CBR. My DD had to make a quick decision and chose CBR. We are alittle nervous as we never stayed there before and it crossed our minds to forget FD to stay at FQ but we decided to experience a different resort. We'll see in a couple of months if we regret that decision or not.

I would go with POR. You get the free dining, the queen beds (CBR still has doubles), and you can still visit the POFQ area on your vaca!

DW got a BIG windfall and knowing I wanted to go to WDW told me to plan a dream week of everything I wanted, allowing for her to have some major decompression time too. We made the down payment and she didn't even blink, but while making dining reservations she asked how much were the rooms per night and froze when I told her we were looking at $600 or so per night for Poly Club Level. She decided that was a little (LOT) much and asked me to downgrade it to value, choosing ASSp which had been in discussions last year.

A few days later I was running the numbers on CSR and managed to talk her into an upgrade, although I confess I'm not sure if I'll be completely won over with CSR. (Although our only previous on-site experiences have been ASMu & Ft.W. We don't have to aim too high.) I keep looking at other mods but I always hit some little bump that has kept me with CSR. POFQ doesn't have ANY discounts, Royal Rooms and AB preferred rooms at POR as well as the Pirate rooms at CBR just seem far from transportation and I DON'T want to drive. Shutters at CBR doesn't seem to be a winner either.

Stick with CSR - honestly it is not nicknamed Deluxe light without a reason. It is step up for the values, and the only drawback is that it is not on the monorail. If it were, it would give competition to the Poly!!!

Pick the one with the theming you like the best! We didn't like CSR at all but we love PO. It's all a matter of taste.

. I know I will be at Disney and that alone will make our trip great. Most of our time will be spent out of the room, so just need a clean, comfortable place to sleep and hopefully the value won't disappoint.

Once inside the theme park gates, it is the same for everyone. For me, that is where I spend most of my time.

The value resort is just fine for me, no regrets.

If I was not spending days and evenings in the parks, if I was looking for a lay around the resort kind of vacation, I'd pay more for my resort room. I never understand people going to a great place like WDW and spending time in the hotel area!

Anyone ever stayed at a WDW resort based on price, that later regretted not spending the money for the resort they really wanted or did it work out better than expected??

That is exactly where I am right now in my planning. Monetary sense tells me value (just can't do the deluxes) but we stayed at POR last year with free dining and just loved it. I'm trying to decide whether to justify the expense, stay value or *gasp* stay offsite at Bonnet Creek or Windsor Hills (we've done WH before and really enjoyed it). My in-laws are coming so it's either 2 rooms or some of the above. Shew!!! Big decision for me! Just wish I could mind-read what possible discounts could come out to help my decision LOL!!!

to be toally honest was the most disappointed in some of the deluxe resorts and we have stayed at them all thru the years. but the buses are so slow and far between and i know they say every 20 moinutes but all one has to do is stand there and see for thmeselves. but was for price other wise have never regretted any WDW resort have stayed in. we love the POLY no doubt but is ready for a remodle for prices they want.

I have never been disappointed but I think my big disappointment might be coming soon...

We have stayed at values, mods, and deluxes and will be headed to the BC in 26 days! :cool1:

In January, I'm traveling with a party of 10 (sister and her family and my parents) and we chose the ASMovies due to cost. My sister is the only one with the real budget constraints but we all wanted to stay together....

I've stayed the ASMovies before but, as many of you mentioned, I've sort of "graduated" to the Moderate/Deluxe side of the house and I'm afraid I can't go backwards!
