Regis & Kelly...in WDW 5/9-13

Hi all,

I just heard from a friend that has inside work scoop, that Regis and Kelly will be doing a live remote from WDW in honor of the 50th....just thought I would pass on the info for those interested.

I will be trying to avoid the crowds they bring. I have been at DL with them there and it can get a little crazy...

We are going on 5-24 so I will have to watch Regis and Kelly to get myself even more excited.

Thanks for the update, we're just going to miss them when we go for May 15. It would have been cool to see a live remote even if they bring more crowds.

So we are going for our Make A Wish trip and we had planned to be at WDW
8,10,11th...But the bright side is maybe everyone will be watching the show and we will have shorter lines in the morning

Ohhhhhh nooooo!!!!!!!

Last time we went they were there to film the Christmas parade. WHAT A NIGHTMARE! Main street was IMPOSSIBLE! They had security everywhere, blocking off sidewalks, blocking parts of mainstreet - for first-timers, it was really frustrating and difficult to maneuver around.

I REEEEEAAAAALLY hope this isn't an accurate date since the celebration is the 5th. <fingerscrossed> But, I don't have much hope!

Well, people in her office has to attend the remote broadcast and they just booked rooms at AKL...so, I think it is pretty real...

Sorry, I am not happy about it either. Maybe they will lock them all in Beauty and the Beast theater and they will stay out of the way....

That explains the shortage of rooms during that same time frame. Someone was lamenting the lack of rooms yesterday on the boards.

You're kidding. They were there last time we were taping the xmas parade. Talk about coincindence!

Any suggestions on parks to avoid during that time frame? Would they most likely be at the Studios or would it be "live" from anywhere? This whole trip has blown my brain. We haven't been in 12 years and the year we finally are able to go they have the 50th celebration while we are there (we had our date planned before knowing about it), no general codes, and now this. LOL! I guess I must be a jinx!

Daxx's Wife here. I did post that we'd be there at that time and I'd hope to avoid them ... but stupid me, I just checked our dates and we're there the week before they are. Yippeeeeeee!!!!!!! They arrive on the day we leave! Don't get me wrong ... I can take or leave R&K ... but I'd prefer to do WDW w/o their huge film crews/schedule getting in the way! Whew .... big sigh of relief!!!!!!

They will probably be Live from one location - its been in differing spots over the years but typically they are somewhat out of the way and people need tickets to get into the taping.

Typically they do the taping over only a couple of days with one of the shows pretty early - perhaps even before the park is open.

It will in no way affect crowds in the parks (in my opinion)

The only time one might notice it is after the taping is over and the group dissipates or if you are at the hotel and on the same floor as the celebrities.

I do also believe that typcially Regis and Kelly are not even at the same hotel. I think he generally stays at the GF, I have heard Kelly speak (by this I mean on the show) of the Poly and AKL...I think she really likes it there.

I have been at Disney while things have been taped - shows anyway -- and they really dont cause much of a problem at all. Parades are a little different to navigate around.

No, that would be horrible. I think just about everytime I have gone, someone, some talk show is there. And it never fails they shut something down to give them a studio. One time I was so looking forward to seeing Tarzan Rocks, but nnnnnoooooo.....Rosie O'Donnell had to use that as her studio for the whole week we were there.

Not really worried they will bring more of a crowd, but shutting something down just so the hosts can have a paid vacation is just wrong.

oh no!!! That is smack dab in the middle of our trip. Does this really impact the parks?? Will things be closed off because of them??

And just curious, how does one go about getting tickets to such an event?? Would it be nuts to even try (I'm thinking my mom would love it). I looked on their website but didn't see anything.

It's interesting to me that everyone was originally so worried about the first week of May and the press, etc and now it seems like the 2nd week of May is the week that has been more affected by the big celebration.

They usually tape on NY Street at MGM. Considering the new stunt show is there, my bet is thats where they will be.
