I finally got around to watching the video. Kevin's right, the lady who yells about the fact that "There are Kids!" is annoying. Especially since its ok for her buddies are spewing the F Word in front of the kids.

What I wanted to say is that what the guests shouting "Where's Security" probably don't realize that there is a good chance that the dudes laying across the guy probably are plain clothed security. If they weren't, DL wouldn't let them continue to lay on the guy while they told other guests to "Back Up"

I thought that woman's buddies were most annoying of all!

I am shocked that people would stand there and egg him on like that. Saying things about him, of course is just going to make him more balligerent. Sad. I am glad I wasn't there with my kids that day. Hope the CM he hit was ok. I heard he had to go to the hospital.

This is exactly what I thought too! I could not believe the way the guys filiming laughed and the way they talked to/about him. Something was really wrong with that man and I don't know that it was just drinking. There are a lot of medical issues and medicines that can cause issues. A diabetic can get very belligerent when they are going into a diabetic shock.

I feel sorry for the cast member that was hit by the man, but I also feel sorry for the man. He was calmed down, wipeing the pepper spray out of his eyes and the security card sprayed him again. :confused3 That seemed wrong to me. Then the "guys" that finally helped the guard had the man pinned so hard he was asking for them to stop because he was fearing for his life. It all just seemed very bizarre.

I can attest to this.

Several years ago, my folks, my brother and John and I were on a plane to Las Vegas.

On the plane, my Dad became very silly and started to sweat profusely. After a short time, the humor turned belligerent and hostile. He tried to punch my brother in the face and tried to kick me between my legs.

Eventually, his eyes rolled back and he stopped talking.

A DR came forward and tried to help. we originally thought heart attack or stroke. When told that my Dad was diabetic, he asked everyone on the plane if anyone had their testing kit with them?

After taking my Dad's blood sugar, we found that he dropped into the mid 20's and for anyone who is diabetic or knows a diabetic, this is DANGEROUSLY low.

Packets of sugar mixed in OJ and forced into my Dad brought him around. The plan to land the plane earlier than Las Vegas was called off, but paramedics were standing by when we got to Las Vegas.

It turned out that my Dad took his medication but never ate before getting on the plane. The strenuous activity (my Dad was in his 70's) of getting the car ready, getting to the airport and the process of getting through security had lowered his blood sugar even further.

It was a very scary time on that plane for us and everyone around us.

Once in the hotel in Las Vegas, my Dad slept for 36 hours.

While I have no knowledge that this was what we saw in the video, I can attest that it looked possible.

My only doubt is that this went on for quite a while. The episode with my Dad, while seemingly taking forever, really happened rather quickly.

Kevin, I agree with you that low blood sugar could cause the type of behavior shown in the video. My biggest doubt, though, is the fact that he eventually became contrite. If his blood sugars were still dropping, I don't think his mood would have changed like that, even if a "normal" person would back off once 3 people were sitting on him. The fact that he was able to reason even that much tends to make me think it wasn't blood sugar related. But that's just a guess on my part. Heaven knows there are tons of other reasons he may have been acting like that.

Do we know that the guys were really her "buddies"?

It did occur to me when I saw the video previously, that it wasn't necessarily a case of being drunk, but could be medical, drug, etc. as well. But the cause probably doesn't really enter in to the decision to take action, as the actions, in theory, are to protect others (as well as hopefully protecting the person from hurting themselves).

This is one of my biggest fears for my son who has Type 1 Diabetes. We just saw a video of a police beating of a man who was suspected of drunk driving, but actually his blood glucose had gone low. Scary! Of course, it is difficult for people to know in the heat of the moment exactly what is going on with the person, but I would hope that CM/security/police/etc. would take a second to check for a medical alert bracelet. There seemed to be a couple of opportunities in this video, but perhaps they had already looked/asked and established that was not the issue.

In our experience, when our son's BG has gone very low, he can be belligerent for a minute, but then he becomes very 'out of it' quite quickly. Of course every person is different.

While its true that certain medications, or lack of, can result in a person behaving badly, there are times (this looks like one of them) when that person has to be controlled. If its a medical issue, I would feel bad for that person. If its recreational drugs or alcohol, not so much.

At the end of the day we may never know what the issue was with the gentleman.

However, I did feel that the situation was not helped by the men who were filming and loudly mocking the man and the situation like a bunch of rowdy frat boys as well as the woman screaming that "This is Disneyland." Pity someone was not able to get them away from the area, neither seemed to be helping the situation.

The thing about this video that really irritated me the tools who filmed it. "there are kids around!" No kidding! Tell your buddies who dropping f-bombs that one!

As a diabetic and having had those nasty insulin reactions, I am not so sure about the guy in the video. Again I wasn't there so it is hard to tell. For me, when I have insulin reactions, like the one Kevin described with his dad, I usually wouldn't be standing. I have argued with my husband because I didn't want to test my sugar level or eat or drink something. So if the guy was having an insulin reaction, I can understand the angry tone. Usually when I talk I don't make any sense, so was this guy making any sense? Did he jumble up his words? Was he talking about stuff that didn't seem to fit?

If you listen closely towards the end the guy sounds like he was willing to cooperate. So maybe he was having an insulin reaction or some type of reaction to medication.

I really wish the people around him were more considerate and understanding. Instead of yelling at the guy. Why didn't someone quietly get a security person, instead of yelling about kids and saying bad words. Why wasn't anyone asking how he felt or if he needed something?? I understand the guy was not the most friendly, but yelling and screaming just seemed to make things worse. And instead of filming this stupid episode, why wasn't the filmer trying to help the guy get the help he needed? No instead he rather film this and put it up on the Internet. Don't get me wrong I am not defending anyone in the video. I just wish that sometimes people just stop and figure out the best solution instead of just screaming or filming it. And if you didn't want your kids around, why didn't you just walk away with them??

Anyhoo.....

the guy in a white shirt with a patch on his sleeve and blue pants that he punched in the face and kicked was security. The security officer was hit first so he was in his legal right to use force to get him under control. your right those filming wanted a better video so they kept yelling and making the whole thing worse. this gentlemen will have his day in court so he can try to explain why he decide to attack the security cm.

Just as a suggestion. Have your son make a card that says he is diabetic and place it behind the driver's license in his wallet. If your son is ever pulled over and is having an insulin reaction, the cops will pull the license and then will see the diabetic card. I made myself one and laminated it. It has my name, husband's phone number, list of current medications, doctor's number and anything else that is important.

I sometimes wish you could have Diabetic printed somewhere on your driver's license like they do for organ donation. But since they don't, this card has been helpful. Also, if I am in an accident, all the information the doctors need is right there. I also have a medic bracelet but it isn't kept up to date like it should, so the card is quite helpful.

The guy hit the gentleman from security and apparently wouldn't stay down when told to and hit with pepper spray. Medical condition? Remember, he WAS charged with assault later that evening and then released. I'm pretty sure that if there had been some medical condition, he would have been treated and released without being charged. Or some smart lawyer would have said the guy suffered some sort of medical incident. Was he there alone? If it was a diabetic incident, you'd think a friend, family member or somebody would have said something during the fracas.

I'm all for giving people the benefit of the doubt but not all incidents are medically related. This guy could just be some guy who had too much to drink at California Adventure. I don't think it's unreasonable to think that that's probably what happened and it's probably happened before and will happen again ... because some people just drink too much in the parks. This one got a lot of press because of YouTube.

As for the people recording it ... yeah, they were annoying and they were pretty stupid but blaming them for what happened or continued to happen? C'mon.... I doubt their screaming was even heard by the guy. We hear it so clearly because the phone is right next to them but that guy, in his condition, probably wouldn't have cared that these guys were acting like idiots.

And besides, if it wasn't for these idiots, you'd have nothing to watch.:rotfl:

After watching the video I have a few comments:

1. Where on Earth was the extra security?? If this had happened in WDW there would have been undercover CMs swarming the guy within minutes.

2. WHAT is up with the woman screaming about kids in the area?? If I had been there I would have hightailed it OUT of there with my kids after seeing 5 seconds of what went on and try to find help for the CM.

3. IMO the guy looked drunk. As PP's have said, a diabetic can have a similar episode, but as Kevin also said, his father was out within a few minutes. This guy kept getting back up for more and wasn't stopping.

4. I am shocked and appalled that something like this could happen at Disney. I know that guests can sometimes be irate, but to strike, kick or otherwise try to cause physical harm to someone else is just sickening. I hope the man gets banned for life.

I watched it and thought all the friends were so annoying. :headache:
