My DH has a friend who is thinking about coming to WDW the week of April 18th and staying at the Regal Sun Resort. We always have stayed on Disney property and usually at the BCV or the BWV. I know this hotel used to be The Grosvenor (??) but I have never been there and have only seen it in passing while driving by in a taxi. Supposedly the hotel has undergone major renovations. My DH's friend is Jewish and for the week of Passover the hotel is being taken over by the Orthodox Jews and there will only be Kosher food, etc. for the guests. I believe the price includes food and there are 4 days during this 10 day period where the guests would be permitted by their religious beliefs to go to the theme parks (I think the price also includes a 2 day pass). It runs $2400 per adult and $1K per kid. (I think they have 3 kids). In any event for 10 days or so it's around $8000ish. I priced out just a regular room w/ 10 day passes and the GF is $6500; the BC is $5700; and a 2BR at SSR is $8700. Does anyone know anything about the Regal Sun -- I wouldn't want my DH's friend to pay for a slightly upscale HoJos....when he could stay at the GF or the Beach Club (even if no food is included)....thanks and Shalom.

We stayed at the then Grosvenor (we nicknamed it the Grossnor) about 2.5 yrs. ago and we'll never go back there. Even if they are giving free rooms I don't think you could convince me or DH to stay there again.

Our problems were that when we checked in the person behind the front desk hardly said five words to us. We got into our room and it was disgusting! Hairballs, dead spiders, etc. all over the place. I made sure that DS kept his socks on while in the room and the bottom of his socks ended up almost black from the gunk in/on the carpet.

We, obviously, haven't stayed there since the rennovation so hopefully they gutted the rooms. I'd personally stay somewhere else and maybe see if it would be possible to eat at the Grosvenor for a few meals.

They just did a 25 million dollar renovation. I would recommend going to www.tripadvisor.com and entering the hotel name. There are recent positive reviews of this hotel.

I previosly posted on this board that there is a deal on this hotel for $99 night standard room through April 30, 2008 through www.bookit.com The normal resort fee of $10 per night is included in the price of the room.

Please be advised that bookit charges a fee of $19.95 if you should have to modify or cancel your reservation. (I found this out when I had to cancel my ressie.) Maybe your friend could just book a room without the food package the hotel is offering? I hope this helps your friend.
