We are new to Disneyland and started talking recently about a last minute trip next month (Feb). I was disappointed to read about all the refurbs going on. I specially really wanted to see Fantasmic and I shrunk the audience (hubbys favorite ride from some years ago in WDW). Matterhorn is gone too. No electrical parade (boo)

Is this an unusual number of refurbs, or is this normal and what we can expect at anytime? Are there always refurbs going on? I was wondering if we should reconsider. Also, what are the chances of something else being taken out of rotation but not on the refurb schedule, or is it pretty safe everything else would be up and running.

This is relatively normal. Except that DCA as a park is undergoing a major refurb over several years to conclude in 2012. See Disney's California Adventure Project Tracker VIII

The EP never shows in Feb so this is normal. In recent years it only shows in summer and holiday season.
