Refurbished Apple products...

Who has purchased refurbished Apple product? What has been your experience?

I am considering getting an Ipad. I've actually wanted one since it first came out. DH has an Ipod and I know he really likes it, but photography is something I love and think an Ipad would better suit my needs. I've looked at the refurbished ones and a 32G for $499.

I've also thought about waiting until the next Gen Ipad is released, but who knows how that will change prices.

I'm currently using my 3 year old macbook that was refurbished. I've had one issue with it and had to have the Apple store repair it (took an hour). Also, for what it's worth my full price, non-refub mac had the same issue. I would buy another Apple refurb in a heartbeat. They warranty them the same, so it's like buying an Apple...but it's on sale.

I have bought 3 refurb Ipods from the Apple store online. They look brand new and work perfect. They have a full warranty just like if bought new. The only difference was they came in plain brown boxes not the same boxes a new product would be in. I will be buying refurbs from them again !! saved us lots of $$

DH has a refurb iPod Classic and we've never had any trouble with it. He's had it for over two years.

We have purchased 2 ipods, and 2 ipod touch's and have had no problems. We are getting ready to order another ipod touch for our dd--refurbed of course. Saves so much money

My husband just bought me the 3G mid-size refurb IPad for Christmas. It came looking brandspanking new in a nice box. So far so good...am loving it.

This is probably the 5th or 6th refurbed Apple product we have purchased. We have had Zero problems. And with the same warranty as brand new..I feel really comfortable with Apple.

Good to know this too. We are currently shopping for an imac or a macbook, and are debating on a refurb v. new. Not sure we can get what we want refurb which may make the ultimate decision for us. But we'll see. Thanks for the great question.

We have refurb Nano4gen, two iPhone 3GS, and an iMac. Any issues where treated as though they were new and replaced (HD failed on the iMac - got a new one), software issue on DW's iPhone last month - gave her a new one. No other issues and what problems we did have could happen to brand new as well, so no worries for us buying refurb from Apple again in the future.

I bought my dh the 16gb IPAD refurbished for Xmas and only paid $419 with free shipping. Came all sealed in a nice box and works great.

DD received a refurbed 8gb ipod touch for Christmas and we have to send it back already (CS was a hassle to get through to, but they overnighted the box to ship it back in and are overnighting it back to themselves). Conversely, I have an ipod nano that's probably 5 years old or so that I've had no problems with. With the warranty they offer and customer service, I don't think you can go wrong with refurbished.

My ds has an original ipod shuffle I got refurbished for $29 that still works fabulously. I hope I didn't jinx myself there. It's 5 years old.

We have 2 refurbished iPods Nanos in our house. I've had mine 3 years and DS has had his 2 years, and we haven't had any problems with either of them. I'm waiting for mine to go because I want an iTouch, but that's another issue entirely. DH got a new (not refurbished) Nano the same year I got mine, and the play/pause button quit working a month or so ago.

DH bought me a refurb 32G Ipad for Christmas. Works perfect! No plastic box but who cares! It was $499 with free shipping, ordered the on Monday before Christmas and received it Fed Ex 9:30 Thursday morning! We have been using it solidly since Friday! Love it! I too wanted to wait for the 2nd gen, but I figured my kids would be happy to take this one over if Mom really needs the new features! Good Luck with your decision, personally I wish I would have bought it sooner!

I would not hesitate to purchase refurbed apple products. DH and I both have refurbed ipod classics that are 4 years old. I have never had a problem with mine. DH is a little rougher on his though(wears it on the job site). Took it back to the Apple store after it developed a crack across the screen with only 1 day left on the warranty. They replaced it with no problems. They even let us purchase the extended warranty. For $59 we got another year of protection. Thank God we did. Less than 6 months later we had to take DH's ipod back. Got another replacement with no problem. 2 1/2 years later, they both are working great.

All the apple products we own are refurbished and I would purchase them again without hesitation.. We own IPODS, NANOS, IPHONE and just purchased a 32g IPAD… I purchased apple care on the IPAD… since it was the most expensive item.
