Refurbed rooms at DLH

Thanks so much for taking the time to post these great pictures!

I hope we can get one of these rooms as well when we go in April. I was wondering if they upgraded you to a pool/resort view room when you asked for a remodeled room? I think the pool view rooms are not considered "standard". I was told when I called that the only rooms that have been finished are the pool/resort view rooms (so more than the standard rate)--but you can always book standard and hope for an upgrade.

At any rate--I think they are doing a great job. I really love the Disneyland Hotel--there is something so special about it, and this refurbishment just adds to it.

Thanks,
Lisa

Thanks for posting the pics, Disneyluvr!

We went on this trip together but she was much better about taking pictures than I was :goodvibes. We had an absolute blast!!!! :cool1: The room was so cool, especially the headboard! The music that plays sounds like one of those old music boxes from long ago. The beds are super comfortable except that for me, anyway, the pillows are too fat :rotfl:. I also had some trouble figuring out how to turn the shower on and off :scared1: but I'm not very mechanically minded. I also miss the magnification mirror in the bathroom, what with my eyes being sorely challenged when it comes to putting on makeup these days. The old rooms had those but the new ones don't, or ours didn't, at least. For those who wondered about a coffee maker, there is a small pot, not an individual coffee machine, and the pot is metal rather than glass. I didn't try it as I just got the free coffee from the lobby (because there's real cream down there), but I will add that the lobby coffee is not that great. Hagen Daaz sells Peet's and Compass has good java, too, if you want to buy it. Otherwise, bring your own and use the little pot and if you're a cream lover like me just bring some up to your room in a cup and stick it in the fridge.

gethane, yes, you can see the fireworks from the resort view side of the Dreams tower. Only about half of the tower is finished as of now--if you cut the Dreams tower in half vertically, the farthest side from the lobby/DTD is the finished side. The side closest to the fireworks is still undergoing renovation so I'm not sure exactly how the view would be. The only time I watched the fireworks from DLH was in a 7th floor room on the corner nearest the Sorcerer's Hat (where you go into DTD), which is in the unrefurbished part. It was a fabulous view, though!

I am pretty sure our couch did not pull out into a bed. I think it was just a daybed. I didn't give it a thorough look but did pull at the cushions to see and it did not appear that they came off. There were 4 adults in the room and we did not find it cramped (although with 4 women there was some waiting for the bathroom at times!).

I think that they consider it a standard room at the moment because there is a big blue plastic-covered barrier wall that goes all around the front of the tower (below and out of sight in the pool picture posted above). You're right, though--normally that would not be a standard room. There are standard rooms in the tower, which would be the ones with blocked views. Those are generally on the bottom couple of floors. Our room was on the 3rd floor and didn't seem to be too blocked so I am guessing it would not normally be considered a standard room. It would likely be a "lower-level pool/resort view," which is a separate rate category from an "upper level pool/resort view." They didn't used to differentiate but I noticed that they do now, at least on some websites.

We called the night before and were told that our room had not yet been assigned, but our request for Dreams tower was still noted and the CM told me "it could go either way." We arrived about 9:30 AM and were told our room would be in the Magic (lobby) tower so we asked if a refurbished room was available. At first, the CM looked at the computer screen and didn't see one, but she was nice enough to go check in the back and came out in just a minute smiling and saying there was one and it was ready for us to check into! I've never been able to check in that early before at DLH. So just a note--it did not show up on the check-in computer! We were lucky enough to get a CM who went in the back to check (we didn't ask her to).

OMG!!! :worship:

The room pics are amazing! I got an upgrade on my trip, but only for the Magic Tower! I really cannot wait to stay in those rooms!

We stayed in one of these rooms from January 5th through the 8th and I can tell you that the couch does pull out into a bed because we used it all the nights we were there. I will say that it pulls out different than the other ones used to and that the cushions don't come off. It is kind of odd and took us some time to figure out how it worked and we almost had to call for help. I can say that the pull out was very comfy to sleep on so that was a ++++ :goodvibes

Ooooooooooh!! Well, I can't say I'm surprised to learn that I just couldn't figure it out :rotfl:. Remember, I'm the one who couldn't figure out how to turn the shower on, then how to get hot water out of it, and then how to turn it off ! This is good info for when the whole fam goes next fall. Well, that's MY plan, at least! DH has yet to hear about it :cutie:

ETA: We thought it looked like there wouldn't be room for the couch to pull out. Didn't it hit the bed across from it?

Thanks for the photos and comments about the new rooms!

Those beds look triple sheeted! Are they? If so they are officially nicer than the GCH who I can't believe still uses worn bedspreads. Our latest bedspread there was torn and dirty. I'm so picky about hotel bedding and the beds in those pics look amazing!!

Thanks for all of the information! Your explanation about the blocked view makes perfect sense. We always book online through the disney website (and pretty much always stay at the Disneyland Hotel)--and I typically spring for the lower pool/resort view. It costs a bit more than a standard, but not as much as an upper pool/resort view. I think we actually stayed on the 3rd floor in Dreams Tower with that pool view (very similar to your picture) the last time we went.

I am so happy to hear you were given one of these rooms. I am not sure if we will get one, because we are going in April when spring break will make it very busy, but I plan to give it the best try I can.

Thanks for the great pictures--I showed my daughters, and they are so excited for our trip.

Take care,
Lisa:goodvibes

Ok, I am sold! For a view of the fireworks and DL, is the lower or upper resort view best? Are all of the resort view rooms in the Dream Bldg? Will all of those rooms be refurbished by June?

We checked in to DLH a couple of days ago (I'm posting from our room right now!). I was jazzed to hear that they were putting people in some of the renovated rooms, so I made it a point to get here early and request one. Upon check-in, we were told that there were no renovated rooms available at all for anyone at this time.

Did something change recently, as in, the construction crews somehow need complete access to the whole tower -or- they only book those rooms when they are heavily booked?

Do you have any pictures of the new rooms??

Sorry only got this far in the thread. I see many pics posted. :)

i love those pillows! I wonder how many times theyll have to replace them after people sneak off with them. :tiptoe:

God they are gorgeous. That's settles it, next time the Disneyland Hotel for me!
