Refund Update

Hi everyone:

Just wanted to let you all know that refunds will be sent out this week. We are still battling with PayPal, and I have no idea when that issue is going to get resolved (the last time this happened, it took nearly a month to get it straightened out). Therefore, I have taken a pesonal loan for the amount of the refunds. That check should be in on Friday (everything was confirmed and signed yesterday). I will simply pay back the loan when the PayPal issue is cleared. I will be sending out checks to everyone, and will use the address that was provided when you registered. If you need me to send it to a different address, please let me know ASAP, as I'm going to be spending most of the day today writing out checks and envelopes.

Thanks,
Pete

Thanks for the update Pete, but I dont think that i will be able to bank a cheque made out in $$ in my ££ account. So i think that i will have to wait for your pal pay issues to be sorted.

Emma has a point, some banks over here do let you pay $ cheques into a £ account but at a price more than a paypal transaction would cost.

Can you help us out here Pete ?

I will wait for PP to be sorted too. I'd be charged something like $15-$20 for presenting a US Dollar check to my bank, plus I'm pretty sure they would offer a poorer exchange rate than PayPal so I'd end up taking quite a loss for a 2 person refund.

Thanks Pete! Check works for me and you got my address.

Okay, for the Brits...do you think a wire transfer will work? Have never done that to a UK bank before. Any guidance is appreciated.

Thanks,
Pete

There's also Livia who's from Brazil and Sandra from the Netherlands. I don't know what would work for them either. Sandra doesn't have access to email right now to contact you. She's still in WDW. Thanks.

I used to work at a large bank here in the States and did several international wire transfers for clients. You will need a good bit of information, including the routing number (also called the swift code) of the receiving bank, the name of the receiving bank, that bank's location, and info on the recipient (including their account number and possibly address). The bank will have an exchange rate in their system that they will use in the conversion. Just be sure that you are clear as to whether you want the amount to be in US dollars (ex: specify that you want to wire $100 worth of pounds, not just 100 pounds). There is a pretty hefty fee for wire transfers because of federal regulations. At the bank I worked for it was around $30 per transfer. If you choose to go this route, I would call your bank to find out exactly what info they need. Hope this helps a little! :)

Thanks for the info, Pete. I appreciate what you are doing to get this straightened out. Hope this means that we won't be forced to use Pay Pal for any future transactions with you, as I was really not comfortable using it in the first place.

We wire transfer to Germany all the time. We get charged $20 per transfer. Hard to believe my bank is actually cheaper than another bank. WOW! Finally, my bank does something I can appreciate. ;)

Pete - it sounds as if we'll just have to wait for paypal - I'm certainly not comfortable with a $20 or a $30 fee.

Thanks

I'm taking Sandra to the airport tonight. I can give her the update info. A suggestion- how about issuing checks to someone here for the out-of-country refunds? Then the US person could send Sam, Emma, Livia, Sandra (and anyone else I forgot) their Paypal refunds. I'd offer to give Sandra the cash now and wait for the check but I don't have enough cash here (and no ATM card-sorry).

Karen, I've been thinking about this. I would be willing to do this if it's okay with Pete and the recipients. I would think that everyone would trust me. :p Pete could send me a check for the refund for Sam, Emma, Sandra, Livia, and Shannon (if they want me to), and I could pay them via Paypal.

I have sent Pete a message about this.. I did not want you to think I was not listening... Hugs..

Thank you so much Dayna, if you dont mind doing this for me - It would be great. Pete, please go ahead and issue my refund check to Dayna.

Thanks again.

Emma
