Refridgerators and microwaves?

Ok, we plan to stay at the POP when we go to WDW for the 1st time next September. I know from reading already that the rooms do not have a microwave and that fridges are 10 bucks/day unless for medical reasons. My question is this: IS IT OK... if we bring our own mini fridge and small microwave(both of which we own already) and use them in our room? My reasoning is of course to be able to keep stuff cold and have breakfast in our room. I know that the food court has microwaves, but depending on where you are staying in the complex that could be a loooong walk just to heat something up, and take up valuable time.

As far as my understanding and knowledge as an electrician, those two units are too much of a load on any circuit. Throw in a blow dryer and it far surpasses the allowable amperage. That being said the smallness of the value resorts and fire and safety codes prohibit alot of appliances being brought in. Blow a circuit breaker and try to find the panel box, call maintenance and it could be along wait till the power is restored. We always stay deluxe and the rooms are more geared to more circuits but even there I wouldn't push the issue to save a few dollars. The fridge, if apartment size should be alright, since Disney can provide one of the same load factor with no problem but bringing a microwave or toaster or hot plate is asking for problems.

I brought my coolatron in 2004 with no problems and will again next may. I was thinking of bringing my bar fridge. I figure if they offer fridges that must mean the circuits can handle them.

Disney frowns on cooking in the rooms due to the fire hazzard and possible offending smells from the food. A small refrigerator is fine though.

We rented a refrigerator and microwave from A Baby’s Best Friend (www.abbf.com) during our last trip in September. They were great, and came from many recommendations on these boards. The fridge was $50, and the microwave was $25. We had no issues whatsoever with ‘overloading circuits’, or anyone even hinting that we were not allowed. The luggage guy told us ABBF’s stuff is very frequent there.

Both were delivered before we got there and were waiting for us in the luggage room. The fridge was on a small luggage hand cart (like you use to walk through the airport with a small duffle). Both items were in nice boxes with ABBF logos and info on them. Very easy and the price couldn’t be beat. Thanks to all the raves on this board we had a great time. popcorn::  :p

You are free to use the microwave oven at the food court.

I don't recommend cooking in your room. Why would you tote a microwave and fridge on vacation? seems like alot of work to be able to heat something up. Gosh, when I go on vacation, I GO ON VACATION. You can use the microwave at Everything Pop.
