Refresh Method - Large Group

Looking for anyone who has experiences, good or bad, with attempting to get additional FP+ for a bigger group. We're a party of 8. I've been very successful with smaller numbers, but have never done this many. Hoping for additional tier 1's in Epcot/DHS, particularly interested in anyone's experience at Epcot, I think our party will be 4 or less for the DHS extras we need (people are either too short or too scared lol). Also interested in anyone's experience at MK with the non headliners, HM, POTC, Jungle Cruise, etc. At AK we're pretty much covered with our 3.

We did a trip with 7 and still did quite well with refreshing. For non-headliners we could often find FP's for the entire group....for the harder to get FP's I would typically break it into 2 groups and find overlapping times. The only ride I didn't get either night before or day of was 7DMT but it really wasn't a priority for us or I would have put more effort into it.

Great to hear, thanks! We’ll have 7DMT, SDD, and FoP booked beforehand (hopefully!), cause I’m not a miracle worker lol.

On that trip I had an AK day set up towards the end where I had a FOP FP....after 2 days everyone told me they wanted to do AK the next day. I figured it would be nearly impossible to get 7 FOP FP's overlapping night before but managed to do just that and with an AM time. SDD multiple times day of as well (both using drops and just regular refreshing). If you can have multiple people refreshing that will help as well. It can take some extra work and flexibility but still can be quite successful.

Also, earlier in the day you can try doing this with all eight people. As you get into the early afternoon, I'd try breaking it up into smaller groups and look for overlapping times.

Don't wait until you find overlapping times before accepting a reservation though. For example, if four of you can get on FOP at 1:30pm, go ahead and grab it and then try to find a similar time for the rest of the party. Don't wait until both groups have found similar times before hitting that button to reserve.

I’ve found myself breaking up my group of 5 more and more each year. The first year I almost never did and now I’m finding I need to do it more (maybe I’m more impatient). I try everything as a whole group for a few minutes and if I don’t get anything I break it up. I don’t ever break up for the biggest headliners (FOP, SDD, 7DMT) because searching even for 2 it’s very rare that I see them so I’m sure I wouldn’t be able to get them overlapping I have gotten FOP day of for a party of 5 twice.

I may try a couple times to get our large party extra FP+ As a group but for more popular rides I almost always have to break it down to 2-3 at a time and then try to overlap them. My issue is that I hate being a prisoner to my phone on vacation, so the less time I can spend on it, the better and finding FP for 6-8 people can be a challenge so even if times can’t be overlapped we can make it work. We usually split up several times during the day anyways, so it isn’t a big deal

Thank you everyone for your experiences! I was able to secure all the major headliners (some more than once) for our group this morning so hopefully I’ll be successful with extras.

Refreshing in park is like a game to me, I don’t mind having to take time to do it.
