Refillable Mugs?

Are refillable mugs still being sold in the parks? If so, which ones and how much are they charging to refill?

We went in Sept. and all of the souvenier cups sold in the parks are refillable. It depends on which cup you get as to the cost as some are bigger than others I think, but it's only a couple of dollars to refill them.

Yes! My 4 yo dd HAD to have one! Are you talking about the square one with the bubble wand and the bottle of bubbles with it? If so, we have that one! and as far as I know, they still do...

Ok, now the question--please don't flame me... Is it ok to bring our refillable glasses from our last trip to use this trip? I figure that since a person does have to pay for each refill that it isn't the same thing as getting the free refills with the glasses at WDW. We have the square Sponge Bob mug and a Spiderman one (the one that is the same shape as a regular glass).

What are your thoughts?

I can't answer the question, but I can tell you that I don't think that anyone will flame you on the Universal boards. The people here are much kinder and mellower than some of the other boards.

You're right about the people on these boards being nicer and more respectful than the WDW boards. I've gotten great advice from the WDW boards, but I am careful about what I say and/or ask. It doesn't take much to get people worked up.

I've heard horror stories about the WDW boards, so I think I'll stay here.

Yes, it's more than okay to bring your old sipper cup. Sipper cups are such a hot seller that they will never stop selling them. They'll just change the ones that are available. I have, on many occasions, brought an old sipper and gotten the discounted refills. Generally, refills cost the same price as a small drink, which is just over $2 (approx). Sometimes they offer specials where the refills are less than that price, but that happens only during the slow season, and can be started/ended at any time.

Oh, they are still selling the various Spongebob sippers.

I think if I paid 12 bucks for a sippy cup I would be bringing it to the parks until the next millenium for my refill!

So what's this about the WDW boards?! i just ventured over there today to ask a question about Expedia.com on the Community Boards (really wanted to post it here, but didn't feel it appropriate since these boards pertain to UO and I'm plannning a trip to either Rome or New Orleans.)

I have the MIB refillable cup. It costs $1.34 to refill (this includes the tax and so that is the total amount.) I know because I go several times a week and use my cup. ( I was there today and got it refilled.) Nothing was ever said about it being a one visit refillable. Mine even has my name written on the cup with a marker. I bring it every time I come. I never have reused resort cups at Disney but these are sold as refillables and nothing is posted or even said about them being just for the one visit.

And yes, the spongebob cups are still being sold. I saw them today at the parks.

Thanks for your help. I want to get one for each of us, but you know kids, they want one and then see one they like better, so I'd like to know where to find certain cups. I hope this makes sense.

Is the Spiderman one still being sold? It's the one with straight sides and Spidey on the outside. I don't remember exactly what it looks like since I think my husband hides it form us so we won't use it. That one would be easier to tote along than the Sponge Bob one.

So with these refillable cups (Talk about dumb questions...), you carry them around all day with you in a backpack? Can you bring a backpack along on the rides?

Yeah, hoping these boards are forgiving...

We took a backpack last year but we rented a locker to save carrying it about as most of the rides dont allow them

I can't answer on all the kinds of refillable cups because I've never really paid attention. I noticed the spongebob ones because they sell them at the same stand as the MIB ones. I carry mine around all day and don't bring a backpack. My MIB cup has a handle so it is easy to carry or I can loop my belt into it. The straw bends so the drinking end of the straw can loop back into a hole in the lid so it is protected somewhat from germs. Most of the rides have a pocket for putting purses, etc. in and I just put it in that. The rides that don't, like Hulk, I put it in the free lockers.

All of the sit down restaurants and also outside vendors will refill it.

In IOA, they sell the Spongebob ones at various locations, plus area specific ones (Dino Heads in JP, Superheros in Marvel, Dragons in Lost Continent). In USF, they sell a lot of area specific ones, but Shrek, MIB, and Spongebob are the ones I see most.

As has been said, you can bring a backpack and store them in there, and most attractions have some sort of storage area (even if it's just by your feet) for them. Some areas (Hulk, Dragons, MIB) wont let you take any big bags on, so they offer free lockers.
