How much are the refillable mugs and are they reusable if you go back? Can they be used on the cruise?

I just read somewhere that a Resort mug could be used on cruise, can anyone verify that?

It's my understanding the mugs are reusable if you go back, but they are only good at the resort in which they are bought??

does price vary from resort to resort??

I love this debate!!!!

Those of you that are new to the Dis are in for a treat! This is one of the most hotly debated topics on the boards. Sometimes very unfairly debated!

This is what had been written in a "Readers Digest " version.

"I was told, by a CM, that we could use our mugs at any resort for as long as the planet earth revolves around the sun"

"I was told, by a CM, that we can only use the mugs for the length of our stay only at our resort"

"I have never been told that I could or couldn't use the mugs whenever or whever I wanted so I am going to use them as long as I want"

"How can anyone steal free beverages knowing that WDW does not allow you to use the mugs for more than 1 trip?"

Then you get some name calling and blah blah blah...

Bottom line I have seen signs at All Star Music that stated that you could only use the mugs for your present trip at only All Star resorts. I was also told by CMs at ASsp that I could use my Poly mug there. I have been told , by CMs that we can use them over and over for life at the resort that it was purchased. That is when I purchased our mugs at AKL.

We don't bother to bring our mugs from previous trips any longer. We get new ones as souvineers.

Sorry I can't tell you if they are good on the cruise.

There are pages and pages of debate about this (mostly because someone who has not been here long enough to see it innocently brings up the question).
For what it's worth, when they renovated the CBR food court, they added a permanent part of the soft drink dispensor that gives the mug rules. This is not the exact text, but pretty close:
"good for unlimited refills at this resort (and then they listed what you could refill with) for the entire stay during which the mug was originally purchased." We saw a similar sign at WL last March.

jdads2,

Thank you for your very funny and all too accurate take on the refillable mug debate. Between your post and a look at the (first 2 pages of) the now closed AKL concierge thread, which I had missed, I have never laughed so hard on the DIS!

You can only use the cruise mugs for the length of your cruise. You cannot use any other mug. And they charge for the mug by the length of the cruise. A seven day cruise mug is more expensive than the 3 or 4 day cruise mug.

Mainebound,

Thanks for the kind words. I am glad you found my post funny. I hope that everyone understands that the DIS is for information sharing and fun, at least that is the way I see it.

jdads2 - I loved it - it put a comical twist on a topic that sometimes gets just a little to heated. Thanks for the laugh!

Thanks for all the information. We will be staying at All Star Sports at the end of March and then returning the first of June staying at OKW and then the cruise. We have been many times but have never purchased the mugs thought we might want to this trip.

Does anyone know if you can use the refill mugs for unlimited refills on "Beverly" at Ice Station Cool in Epcot?!?!

No you DIT ENT ask that question!!! LOL!

Nancy,

Bottom line, most resorts now have some signage indicating that the resort mugs are to be used for the length of stay at the resort they were pruchased at only. That has always been the spirit of the program, although many CM's have told people that they could be reused. However, even in those cases it was "reused at the resort they were purchased from", not reused anytime and anywhere forever.

So...basically you'd need to buy them for each resort, plus the cruise.

Depending on your soda drinking habits they may or may not be worthwhile for you. It might be cheaper to just buy bottles of soda at the store.

manchurianbrownbear,
I believe they will let you have all the refills on Beverly that you want...forever! ;)

I've long suspected that Beverly isn't a real product and someone with a sense of humor put it in Ice Station Cool for a joke! If I could prove it, I'd love to put it in the "Theme Park Secrets" thread!

Guess I'll enter in this one. In July 1999 there was a sign (I saw it) at WL that proclaimed "Refills for Life". I didn't know I died when I left, HA, HA...

Good one thewiz49! Where do we send flowers for the funeral? LOL...

The only thing I can say is I learned along time ago that all policies at all companies, clubs, orgenizations are always supbject to change - in most cases without prior notice....

Not saying I agree - but it is a fact of life.

Just a suggestion...ask the guy working at the foodcourt where they sell the mugs if you can use the one from last year. If he says no just buy a new one. :)

re Beverly:

I've been to the Coca Cola Museum in Atlanta and they also have Beverly there, so I suppose it's a real (awful!) drink!

AWFUL!! I love Beverly! I ussually garb an empty 3 liter and fill it when I'm there. I finish it off by lunch time!

I wish I could get it delivered to my house.
