I am sorry if this is a repeat question, but I am a little confused about the mugs.
My understanding is that the mugs can only be used at the resort they were purchased at. However, I read recently the mugs are now a 'general' mug between all resorts and can be used at all resorts.

Can someone help clarify this for me? :confused3 I was only going to buy one (more for a souvenir) if I could only use it at POR, but if I can use it at any resort maybe I will buy 3 (one for each of us).

Thanks.

Yes, the mugs are now of a general "Year of a Million Dreams" theme and the same at every resort with the exception of Coronado Springs. Here are some pictures of my 2007 mug (the 2008 mugs look the same, except they do not actually say "2008" on them)...

From my understanding they can be used at any resort now during the stay in which the mug was bought. I already know that we are buying at least one, probably two.

Last year we stayed at ASMo and bought our mugs there before moving on to the WL for the rest of our visit beacuse the CM said the mugs were good for the legnth of your stay and were not resort specific.

As a self-described hyper-moralistic loudmouth who has climbed to the level of Lieutenant in the DIS Mug Police, I can tell you on high authority that it's perfectly okie-dokie to use a YOAMD "generic" refillable mug at any WDW resort (except CSR), as long as you use it during the stay in which you bought it ... you don't have to limit its use to the resort you bought it at.

So many people do split stays so its nice they have the one design. I know recently we had a split stay and also ate at the food courts at the values a few times and it was so nice to be able to take our mugs and refill. Then we came home, gave all but one away to Good Will (we have to keep one as a keepsake). Some disboarding person probably went to Good Will and bought them and is now at the Poly as I speak reusing my old mug.;)

I do miss the various resort designs however.

We were at FW a couple of weeks ago and got another mug. The CM told us to be sure to use it at the other resorts that we visited during our stay.:thumbsup2

Part of the problem with these refillable mugs is that so much controdictory advice is given to guests!!!!!!!!!

These posts really run the gammut..Maybe the CM's should give the "correct" advice, then there wouldn't be so much confusion!

Are you refering to this thread? Because on this thread, there is no confusion and no contradictory information. Everyone who responded said that the new YOAMD mugs are good at any resort (except CSR) during the length of the stay in which the mug was purchased.

They run the gammut from the mugs are good at only 1 resort to they are good at all resorts except CSR....

My friend called several Disney Resorts in the last several days and they told her they were still resort specific and not generic...She literally called 3 different resorts in the last 3 days and was told emphatically they were Resort Specific and only good at the resort you purchased it at...

Go figure...Unfortunately, another example of poor information given to guests...

And you've run squarely into another one of those Disney illusions. Although there are telephone numbers for each resort, when you call that number you are not calling that resort; the call is picked up at a call center. The CMs answering the call do not tell you that they are not located at that resort. Instead, they are gatekeepers who are trained to NOT let your call through to the resort unless absolutely necessary. If they feel they can answer the question, then they answer the question, and you never know that you didn't talk to someone at the resort itself.

The CMs in the reservations center are experts in resort reservations and dining and ticket sales, but their expertise ends there. Many have never even been to a WDW theme park, let alone all of the individual resorts. If the scope of my question is outside of those 3 subjects in the first sentence of this paragraph, I NEVER call Disney to ask ... I rely on my people here at the DIS instead!

OFF TOPIC:
They're SUPPOSED to be experts at those 3 things. I called today to pay the deposits on my room-only split-stay reservations for February 2009. I read here on the DIS about the temporary moratorium on new ADRs that will go into effect soon and won't end until October 24, meaning that the very soonest I'll be able to call up to make ADRs for my trip will be on October 24. Well this afternoon, the very nice CM who took my credit card numbers then told me I should make my ADRs at 180 days out, which she said will be coming in a few weeks. Well, I INFORMED HER about the ADR blackout zone that's coming soon, and the October 24 thing, etc. She'd never heard of it, and politely told me I was wrong. I asked her to ask a supervisor, and ... well ... we all know who was better informed in that conversation ....

I am sorry if this is a repeat question, but I am a little confused about the mugs. Unless Walt himself rises from the grave to answer this question, this debate will never end.

THAT is the million dollar question...which no one seems to agree on.
I'm not sure what the "real, official" answer is, but I can assure you that if I were doing a split stay, I would not buy two sets of mugs, but would use the same one at both resorts. They are one generic design now (excluding those at CSR).

We purchased five mugs back in 2002 and were told we could use them every time we visited Disney... whenever that would be... the mugs had no expiration. We take them back with us every year and have never been told not to use them. We bought them with the intention of continuing to use them. We are visiting Disney in October and hope we can use these ASM mugs again, since we purchased them for continuous use. Maybe we are "grandfathered" in!!!!!!:coffee: :drinking1 Any comments or suggestions?

I love the new mugs design - so cute!! We have used the same mugs since 03 as well, and never been stopped. I think they're happy to see loyalty : )

There are so many answers here on refillable mugs!

The mugs are generic now...Not resort specific! As I've stated before,
my friend called Disney several times this week..several different resorts and they all "swore up and down" that they were still resort specific!!

GO FIGURE!!!

The reality is that since Disney made them Generic there is no tracking mechanism now....Most guests are probably refilling at other resorts!
