Refillable mugs

Hi! I am the original poster. . .I am sorry that I opened such a can of worms. I had no idea! :confused3 I know that if we buy one when we're there, we would only use it that trip -- especially if the rules are clearly posted as it sounds they are. And again, thanks for clearing up that the mugs are at the resorts, not the parks.

How often do you walk around your resorts and sneer at the people who dump a full mug out in the bushes because it's not the drink they wanted(children and adults alike), or they were just taste testing the different options available by half filling the mug and spilling the rest out? Would you flame them on the spot? Doubtful. :stir:

Maybe the sneers come from the actual dumping in the bushes. I dont think Id go there. You can dump it at the food court where you'll be refilling, or the sink in your room easilly enough. I am certainly not MS perfect citizen  but when I am on vaca next year, Ill be buying 2 new mugs for my fam of 4 to last the 8.5 days. I dont think Ill feel cheated, or like a cheater at all. and I agree that these are great souvies to remind me of my trip. Ive got a few in the house from the parks on prior trips.

Your post was fine. The problem is someone always has to jump in and try to stir the pot on purpose and brag about how they use the mugs when they aren't supposed to. People seem to think it's something to be proud of.

Who says thats the official rule? We fill up mugs at Trails that are older than half the servers. I enjoy seeing the older styles.

Well...Disney says it's the official rule on the signs they post and by printing it on the mugs. Seems pretty official to me.

Don't worry about it!! Most people here know what the 'official' word is. This is just one of several topics that are sure to get a rise out of people. I think a lot of people get very defensive about their reusing of their mugs, so tend to jump of those who question it. Most of us here really don't care what others do. We just try to explain any and all existing 'rules' to those who might not know.

You have nothing to be sorry for. You're just trying to plan a good holiday like the rest of us... it's not your fault that Refillable Mug threads seem to bring out the worst in some people. :lmao:

I think it would be great if they had some sort of refillable mug offer in the theme parks. I really wish they did and, to expand on that, I think it would be great if they had a mug offer for resort guests who have purchased refill. mugs at their resort - whereby if you pay a certain amount at the theme parks you get a sticker to put on your mug and get refills for free in the parks as well as your resort. That would also solve the annoying little problem of carrying empty mugs around all day when the kids fill them up in the food court before hopping on the theme park bus! :goodvibes

DebIreland, goofy4tink, and Allison,

Thank you for the reassurance about my post. I am a newbie here just trying to find info out to make our trip super magical! We have been to Disney several times with the dc but dd is 7 and ds is 9 but never onsite. . . I just love WDW!

Maybe we should post this sign :offtopic: since your original question was about refills at the park and wasn't the dreaded resort mug refill question. :rotfl2:

Bring on the cussing and slashing now. I have it coming. I just stated a different view of the wasting that goes on every day at the resorts. :stir:

:rotfl2: That's how I feel about most of these refill. mug threads!!! Maybe we need a smilie that says that!!!

Robo that was perfect! Just the response I needed for a good laugh.

I am not re-mugger as I stated earlier and I do obey the general rules when it comes to things of this nature. I just wanted to stir the pot a little.

Where I live there is an annual music festival (Musicfest) in Bethlehem,Pa which we attend a few days every year during it's run. This is a huge event with many big name entertainers performing each year. It's not a local gathering of a few bands. Well, they also have a mug program where you purchase a large 24oz mug and get discounted refills on it during the event. We have mugs that we have been using for over 10 years and keep taking them back. Now every year they come out with a new design for that particular events date but we have been refilling the original mugs for many years now. We do not re-fill the mugs ourselves as they have stations where servers do the refilling for you whether it's a soft drink or alchaholic beverage. I know it's not Walt Disney World but they honor the mugs no matter the age of them as long as it's from that event. Maybe some people think the same way about the Disney resort mugs?

Just another thought. I am not trying to fuel any fire here. Just different points of view.

Have a Disney day!

I am sooo glad someone asked the question about the refillable mugs as I was uncertain too. I originally thought they were mugs bought at the resorts used anywhere anytime (parks, resorts, home, bus, car, train :confused3 ) then I thought they were used at any resorts and no park then I thought they could be used only to run down in the mornings for a quick cup of coffee/drink, take on bus, train or monorail & figure out what the heck to do with it all day at the parks :teeth:

Now it's really clear - just don't buy one and you'll be fine
