You caught me!! I am-two days...I hate to admit it, as I am now certain that it will TOTALLY ruin the vacations of a couple of the above posters..

Send out the truancy officers, we will be at AKL....:wave2:

Let's see who I can tick off with this statement...I also sneak my own straws into AK and TL, which I make sure that I throw away after using them along with the rest of my trash.

The signs state that the mug is good "for the length of your stay" they do not say "only" or "and no longer" or that they "expire at the end of the length of your stay" or anything like that.

The only thing that is concrete in the rule is that the mugs don't expire BEFORE the end of the length of your stay.

I reuse all of my older ones. I was told I could and so I do. That said..reading it as I type:

Free unlimited refills from our beverage islands during the stay in which the mug was purchased. No question as to what the new ones mean.

However, if you ask at the food court, you will likely be told to go ahead and refill. I personally don't care what anyone does.

That's the problem with these debates. People who don't accept the written word. The sign tells you under what conditions you are allowed to use a refillable mug to obtain beverages. The sign doesn't say you can't use a bread bag or 7-11 mug either but that doesn't mean it's permitted. Suppose I bring a thermos and fill it with coffee? The sign doesn't say I can't. You can pay for a beverage and get a cup. The sign tells you the exception to that rule.

Does anyone have a picture of a sign or an old resort brochure that specifically said the mugs were good for life? I'm curious if free refills for life is anything more than CM generating unofficial policy.

FACE IT Official Disney policy is, and has been for years, the mug is good for your current stay in that resort.

FACE IT Unofficial Disney policy at almost all resorts (POLY, BW excepted) is FREE DRINKS FOR ALL.

I have no problems accepting the current unoffical policy. I am puzzled why some people have trouble understanding the offical policy when the signage is so clear.

Unofficial policy will change if and when Disney is willing to get rid of self service beverages, add a bar code reader or station CM to act as "mug police".

Some intelligent points in these debates:

Consider buying soda or bottled water. You can buy a lot for the cost of the mug, they are easier to take to the pools and park and it may save someone a long walk to bring back some soda to the room.

Some of us would rather have better coffee even if it meant more restricted refills.

Bring your old mugs. Worse case you have to buy new mugs.

There is NO WAY..I repeat NO WAY the CM's will EVER stop you from using ANY mug from ANY WDW resort.

That may be true of WDW mugs, but I did see a CM stop some girls from filling up *non* WDW mugs at Pop in June. At least that's addressed!

Zagafi...hello fellow Illinoisan...

sorry...my "ANY" meant WDW mugs.

But sadly, i have never seen a CM stop anyone using ANY other mug. ( either an "outside" mug or an old mug.)

To mug-police people: How does it affect you whether or not people bring old mugs and refill them, so, why do you care SO much?

To people who do bring back mugs: Why do you tell the mug-police such that they get all upset about it? What they don't know won't hurt them.

No doubt Disney knows it goes on, because 1) they see them and 2) I'm sure some people from management read these boards-- it's free marketing research.

If it was a problem, they would have stopped the mug program years ago.

Actually I'd find it a lot sadder if the policy was being enforced inconsistently.

The "unofficial policy" is pretty uniform, free beverages for all. I don't care if Disney strictly enforces the official policy, although I doubt they ever will, or keeps the present free approach.

I would have a major problem with the policy became a case of CM roulette.

Let's assume a guest, who obviously doesn't follow the Internet, doesn't bring his old mug. He assumes the Disney policy is being enforced. He then sees what is obviously old mugs and mugs from other resorts being refilled without any questions. Might that guest feel is just as entitled to free soda as those guests? Why should he be penalized just because he thought Disney was going to follow the rules?

Did any of you ever think about the quality of coffee served...or how much Disney spends on the soda??..They have a contract with Coke and Nescafe. They basically get it for NOTHING...YES I SAY AGAIN....NOTHING....in return..Coke and Nescafe get ADVERTISEMENT.

DisFan93 makes total sense. Think about it....

Disney is a *for-profit* company existing to *make money*. Considering their concrete policies on other issues that translate into their $$$ bottom line, they obviously don't care about the beverage refill issue. If it meant a significant difference to them in terms of $$$ i'm sure they would let us know big time!

In an attempt to keep us all within the boundaries of kindness...

I would like to point out that I have NEVER seen a thread started by the folks who are against re-using mugs (aka "mug police") These folks are just responding with their opinion to honest questions such as "is it ok to reuse mugs?" If someone asks, folks are gonna give their 2 cents worth....

So, lets be kind to each other....please?

THIS TOPIC IS STARTING TO GET REALLY DUMB AND NOT BEING INFORMATIVE --- PLEASE CLOSE IT MODERATORS!

I really do not wish to beat a dead dog but would like to clarify my earlier statement if it was confusing to anyone. The old mugs DO NO SAY ANYTHING. It is those mugs which do not have a disclaimer which I was told were good forever. This was in May when i offerred to buy new mugs. I was told that WL no longer sells the big ones and that they are grandfathered as they contained no warning of re use and are in fact therefore good forever. The newer ones which have the "good for the period of stay" on them are truly meant for the number of days you are currently staying and using the new mug.

It is kind of like when DVC opened. The original buyers got free passes for a number of years with their DVC purchase. That stopped and everyone else now pays for tickets. Guess this is one time it payed to be a saver.

Have a great weekend everyone.......:sunny:
