If someone gives you a bad look, clock 'em over the head with your mug.

We just returned from POR 8-22. We have several old mugs from many different resorts. When we go to WDW we bring our POR mugs because thats where we always stay now.
the new POR mugs are ONLY purple and have a saying in there "good for your length of stay" ( yada..yada )
I happened to have an old POR mug that was green and had a cracked handle. The CM noticed it and said, "give me your mug I will give you a new one." I did and he did.
There is NO WAY..I repeat NO WAY the CM's will EVER stop you from using ANY mug from ANY WDW resort.
Do I have a problem with others using 7-11 mugs or gas station mugs ...YES !!!!
In fact, one day walking to the food court I saw a guy bringing his empty coffee pot that was in his room, he filled it with food court coffee and went on his way.
Others may question your ethics, honesty, and "is this the way you want to bring up your children, letting them see you cheat."
Who cares.....UNTIL someone at the food court STOPS ME....its old mugs for us until we are told NO.
We have been to WDW every year since 97...for 97 - 00 we did buy new mugs EVERY trip until we "wisened" up.
WE HAVE NEVER BEEN TOLD "DO NOT USE THOSE OLD MUGS."

Just a quick clarification. First, thanks for your input. Our mugs don't say good for length of stay, but one does have the 25 yr logo on it. Anyway, I meant using old resort mugs, NOT outside cups. That I definetely don't agree with, I can't see waltzing in with your 7-11 mug and getting a refill. That takes some gall. But whatever, there's a lot worse that I've read on other threads that people do. But this was interesting. I've never seen the bigger mugs, but maybe they're trying them at one or a few resorts to see the interest.![]()

No doubt a "rookie" CM or a "Barney Fife" CM. I'm sure their co-workers will clue them in in due time.Actually Kinggoofy there are CMs that do follow the posted rules. I have seen it at the Poly .
You're suffering from the same "hang-up" that I used to have with the re-use of mugs. Why bother caring about it? What's the difference between the resort's indifference about old mugs and their indifference about McD's cups and such... both are violations of the long standing, but openly ignored, policy?I don't care if you use an OLD mug, I just get irritated when you see people using McDonalds a chic'fil'a mug.

I used to "care" about such things, but thanks to the good "stop being 'Holier-than-thou'" crowd here I've changed my outlook on lots of things at the parks!

I wish the mug police, child aged ticket monitors, unoriginal PH user watchers, etc, would just enjoy their vacation and not worry about what other people are getting away with...![]()

"The official policy has always been "one mug, one resort (excepting "sisters"), one visit"
"The policy is your mug is only valid for your current stay. Signage to that effect has been up for years. Disney is starting to mark the mugs to make the rule clearer to guests"
"The present policy is still free soda for all. Either you follow the rules or you don't."
I didn't think this post would take such a vehement turn. But the quotes from above are why I started it. My point was that when the mugs started, I don't even remember how many years ago, they WERE intended for use forever, not just the length of stay. This was the policy, so the first quote above is not true. Signage may have been up for years stating the current policy, but for at least a few years when the mugs first started that wasn't the policy and those signs weren't there. I guess there is just no way around this - we can continue to use our mugs (as can enyone else who bought them back then, and I do see them a few times every time we go). However, people who aren't aware that they used to be good forever will continue to think we are "stealing" pop by using the old mugs. It's not so much a case of you either follow the rules or you don't, which, by the way, is a very passive aggressive statement. But I must say that reading this has been a lot of fun, I always check first to see what else has been added. This time we're staying at the PC for the first time, so this doesn't even apply b/c we'll be buying new PC mugs (which, as the rules state, will only be good for this length of stay) Looking forward to further posts!!!
