Refillable Mugs at CBR (Worth the cost?)

I have gotten Refillable Mugs in the past. First it was just me but then it was included in the Dinning Plan, we all had the mugs.

Now, that there's no Dinning Plan, I'm wondering if I should get it for myself. Rest on my family don't drink coffee and soda so not too many choices for them.

What is the current price of a Refillable Mug?

How are they working @ CBR these days? Can you use your mug or do the have disposable cups?
Is it self serve? Do you gotta carry around proof of purchase?

My last trip will was 2 years, no trip last year. Has the design changed?
Have a lot of mugs and DH wants to to throw them out. Hoping there is a change so I get a different design and he won't complain about having the same mug at home. He's not getting that it's souvenir.

You have to decide if it worth it to you but it is not worth it to me. Last time I checked, the cost was $19.99 for the non insulated ones.

it is not self serve, you show the CM your cup (some have had luck showing the receipt) and they will give you a disposable cup with the drink of your choice.

we have Amazon now deliver several 6 pack bottles of diet coke for the same price as the cost of the mug along with snacks & breakfast items. We find it much more convenient to carry 1 soda bottle in the pocket of my backpack that is thrown away when we are finished with it vs. the sticky cup.

FWIW the disposable cup is the size of a regular soda ordered at the food court so you don’t even have to pour it into the mug. I just got back Wednesday and was staying at the Poly and was told to just take a picture of my mug (I set it on the receipt, but was told that was not necessary) and show it. No need to carry around the mug. The picture worked at the Riviera, CBR, and the Contemporary too.

So there is no need to carry around a “sticky cup”.

We used to always get mugs. After using Prime Now for the first time a couple trips ago, I doubt we'll ever get mugs again. For a fair amount less than the cost of two mugs, we got all the Coke and bottled water we needed for 10 days, plus some snacks. More important than the cost savings was the convenience of not having to walk to the food court every time you just want a drink.

We haven’t been since Covid so take it with a grain of salt. We have always gotten the mugs. I’m not a soda drinker but I like the lemonade mixed with the iced gold peak tea.
We take our mugs to the park in string bag back pack or hang off purse strap with carabiner. We usually go to a resort near the park we’re in to grab a bite, get a drink refill and have a bit of a break. When we return to our resort we have our mug and stop for a refill before heading back to the room. Also use mug while at the pool. So we get a fair amount of use from it.

How is at the CBR? Does it have the same beverage choices? Has it been moved? Does a Cast Member stand by it to take your request?

Also, what's the latest mug design?
Some also mentioned a insulated mug, what is that and what the cost? Worth the extra money?

This is just us,but the Mug is part of the "Resort experience"-especially during non Covid times. :)

Especially at the All-Stars where the Beverage Islands are available 24/7.

We love hitting the Islands really early in the AM,getting some Coffee or Hot Chocolate, grabbing an outside table, sip our drink and watch the resort "wake up".

We love getting some Powerade Mountain Berry Blast with just the right amount of ice on a hot Summer day.

And we love reaching the "break even" point and then knowing the rest of our drinks for the balance of our Holiday are "ON MICKEY"!:)

I have been wondering the same thing. CBR is a big resort and I’m not sure the walk to get a refill would be worth it. Do they also give cup refills at Banana Cabana?

Standard plastic mugs are same themes (two designs; Mickey and Pixar) as in early 2020 and are $19.99. Some resorts have a Star Wars themed insulated metal travel mug and it was $29.99 in March 2020. Individual drinks are now $3.99 with 2-3 refills available over an hour and a half or so.

We usually get it and I found it super annoying this trip, decided we are done with the mugs until everything is back to normal.

We are doing that for the first time this trip. I just can't bring myself to spend hundreds on drinks for my family anymore. And the alcohol for the pool situation.. geez.. not doing that anymore either.

CBR have drink machines in certain buildings. There happened to be one around the corner from our room, we used it a lot. Not sure if they are available during COVID. I would ask on the CBR page.

The Freestyles are not part of Covid World.

Was it because of the CM having to hand you the disposable cup? I had my doubts about that too but am curious to hear how you found it “on the ground” so to speak.

I never get the DDP but I always buy a mug as part of the experience, and I do drink my weight in Powerade fruit punch to keep salts/electrolytes in the FL heat/humidity. But since they got rid of the Freestyle machines that have everything I like and is impossible to get otherwise (RIP regular Coke with Lime), I think I am going to just add beverages to my usual Instacart delivery for next time and bring my own tea from home.

How is being served a beverage something you have doubts about? Honest question.

The beverage stations have never been as clean as they are now. The coffee areas especially. They will never be this clean again. Frankly, enjoy it while it lasts.

Not OP, but honestly I preferred getting handed a cup, instead of having to wash the mug each time. I will say waiting on the CM to get it for you was at times aggravating.

I loved getting the mug pre-covid- and it’s my favorite souvenir. We got the starwars mugs and I take my tea to work in it everyday! It’s a nice little reminder of our time at Disney. We plan to get the mugs again when we return in April. I haven’t thought much about the stations not being “self” serve. I assume I can just dump the drink into my mug and enjoy. Are there any stations that aren’t open? I know the kidani pool area was one we hit up a lot. I just hope there is a new design instead of the starwars one I already have!!

I found it super simple last week at the Poly. The CM there the first day told me to take a picture of the mug and just show that. No having to carry the mug around or try to wash it in the room so it's not sticky going home. And better than adding to the single-use plastic problem by ordering bottles.

We were a group of 7 and usually we have 2 or 3 people go and fill the mugs. With this system we had mugs and cups - so then we would go to the condiment area and fill our mugs then toss the cups. Sometimes they would give us a drink holder so we could carry it all back. A couple times we did not get lids because - according to them - we weren't supposed to be drinking out of the cups. Throwing out all those cups as soon as we got them was justt so wasteful I had a hard time. I am not saying I have a better idea right now, I just know we aren't doing it again.

Another random pet peeve? Cocoa. My kids love getting hot chocolate with their mugs and CMs would give them a cup filled with hot cocoa and one packet. I know this seems silly - but those cups needed 2. We had one CM that just gave us two from the beginning but my kids were too shy to ask for a second pack when they would fill their mugs. Is it a big deal? Nope, just a check in the 'cons' column for us getting refillable mugs right now.

Thanks for this question though - it reminded me to add hot cocoa packets to my amazon order.

That's great that they did it that way - much easier.
