I think I've washed a pair of shoes once in the washing machine. By that point, they were no longer running shoes and just walk around shoes.
I train in one pair of shoes at a time and they accumulate filth until they've finished their lifespan as running shoes. If they still look presentable, they become walking shoes. If they look rough, they become lawn mowing shoes.
I do have one pair of New York City Marathon shoes that will never be run in that I save for "special occasions." I plan to buy a pair of rD shoes in 2027 that will be park shoes.
The runDisney New Balance shoes were actually my gateway drug to runDisney and marathons. Like I assume many of you, I was into Disney first and running second. I learned about the rD New Balance shoes and then learned you could only get them at the expo, so I decided if I'm going to do a marathon, I'm going to do it there and get those shoes.
Unfortunately, I was underwhelmed with the 2017 options and I think maybe they had them in 2019? I figured they'd just always be an option, but then that partnership with New Balance ended. I searched for years for the Sorcerer Mickey shoes in my size, but it never happened.
This year, I am fairly committed to finding something I like.
