I know how much everyone loves mug questions but I haven't seen an answer to this. Are we able to fill mugs all the time or are there specific times that the filling area is open?

The two hotels that we've stayed at and purchased the refillable mugs were ASMo and Pop. Neither of them were open 24 hours. One night we got back to the hotel around midnight and the food court section was closed, therefore we could not access the island with the pop machines. Not sure what time they close them up....probably around midnight.

are they only refillable in your resort or in the parks also?

They are only refillable at the resort you purchase them at for the length of your stay. You cannot fill them at any of the parks.

That is what I was afraid of. It would be nice if they stayed open a little longer so that the kids could get their bedtime hot chocolate.

Non of the resorts has the 24/7 refill.

EDIT TO ADD: Someone just corrected me... Thanks! Please see below! Always learn something new everyday!!

This is not true. At the Grand Floridian and the Polynesian, you can refill your mugs 24 hours a day because their counter service restaurants are open 24 hours per day. I am not sure what other resorts might have 24 hour locations.

:jumping1:

At the Contemporary and Swan/Dolphin you can refill them 24 hrs a day. :rolleyes1

I was all for the mug idea hoping to save at the parks on drinks but since we won't be staying at the hotels long - mostly to sleep and rest - now I think it won't be such a good idea. Can you take these mugs into the parks tho? I was thinking of refilling them in the mornings as we head out for the day.

You can take them into the park, you just can't refill them anywhere in the park (though I DID see people filling them up "illegally" in ICe Station Cool in Epcot).

If the rooms at pop have a coffee maker then you can heat up the water and bring those little packets of instant hot chocolate. Your kids must be awfully tired though to be able to load up on both sugar and caffeine and then fall asleep! hehehehe!

I just read Ice Station cool is closed for renovation, don't plan on any refills there for a while.

I believe Roaring Forks is also 6AM - midnight.

You can take filled mugs with you outside of the hotel to drink, but if you are taking the bus, they ask that you do not drink or eat. We did not spend much time at our hotel, but I was surprised how many times we did refill the mugs. One of us would go over to the food court in the morning. We also went for refills when we returned from the parks and for something to drink with a snack later.

You can fill your mugs up at park *water fountains* if you like. Just no sodas, etc. I would be mortified filling up a mug at Ice Station Cool. That's tackier than flypaper!

Anyway . . .

Animal Kingdom and the water parks sell their own larger type refillable bottles/mugs that you can use for the DAY you purchase them at THAT park only.

MK, Studios and Epcot currently do not offer anything like that.

Resort mugs are designed to be used at the resort in which they are purchased- typically for sodas, iced tea and coffee.

It's a good deal if you will be eating meals at your resort. Just sleeping there, might not really save any money, esp if your resort doesn't have 24 hour access.

Just wondering...

How much are they? Thanks :sunny:

I believe they were $8 Still a good deal in my eyes since they can be used all day between the 4 of us.

They were $12 at AS Movies this past May.
