i know there are other threads on this and maybe I'm just a little slow on the uptake but could someone please explain it to me...again? Yet Disney, you buy the mug and basically get unlimited refills for the length of your stay but I don't think that's the way it works at Universal right? You. It it and then have to pay $.99 per drink? So what is th cost of the mug getting you other than the mug itself?

Thank you

You buy the refillable Coke cup, and the first fill up is included. The refills are 99 cents each after that, BUT the cup is usable for refills forever. They even state that on their site.

It's been 4 years, and I always take my only Coke cup for refills every time we go. BIG savings!

I haven't been to WDW in a few years but the only refillable cup I know of is for the resort. They didn't have one that would work in the park.

Right now at Universal there are 3 refillable drink programs.

1. The "souvenir" cup program. This is the one the previous threads have been talking about. You purchase a souvenir cup. It could be the red mugs, or a butter beer cup, cup shaped like a Minion head etc. You buy the cup and normally the first drink is included. After that, you get discounted refills, currently $.99 for the life of the cup. The will replace your straw if it gets busted.

2. The Coke Freestyle Cup. You pay $12.00 for the cup and get unlimited refills for the day at Coke Freestyle machine (You can also get it as an add on to the meal deal). Additional days are $5.99.

These first 2 options are good in the theme parks. Disney's refillable plan is only good at your resort.

3. Sonic fill at Cabana Bay. This is basically the same at Disney's Refillable Mug Program. The biggest difference is Cabana Bay has Coke Freestyle machine in addition to the regular fountain machine. (Note: the cups from the parks are not good at Cabana Bay and Vice Versa they are 2 separate programs). The price is determined by the number of days you want just like Disney's current program.

That's a great summary, thanks. I forgot the butterbeer cups were good forever...but probably not worth carrying around. I think we'll try the resort mug, as the kids love to play with the freestyle machines. :)

Answer is probably no but Butterbeer refills are not .99?

Butterbeer mugs filled with soft drinks are $.99. Butterbeer Mugs filled with Butterbeer are the same price as the ones filled in cheap plastic cups. And no, you can not get your giant refillable mug filled with Butterbeer. But, if you ask nicely, I've been able to get Buzz Cola in my Refillable Mug at Simpson's Fast Food Blvd even though I've heard they are not supposed to.

On vacation now and purchased one of the souvenir cups @ Universal a couple days ago. As I was washing out the cup today, I noticed in small writing "good for day of purchase only." Now I don't believe these cups are in any way chipped. And on the day we purchased it, we weren't required to show any sort of proof of purchase to get the refills, we just gave them the $1.06 each time. Guess I'll find out in the next couple of days if it's still valid.

there have been promos before that used those cups of "good for day of purchase only"
i'm guessing they are just using up the rest of those cups and they are still valid for your return usage.

but if they aren't, don't worry.
many bring back the cups to use for the cheap refills in the parks.

The red cups are supposed to be one day only refills but I've been using the same cups for years.

Can anyone tell me if its the same process for the popcorn buckets? We bought one years ago and deciding if I should bring that too.

Yes. Same with popcorn, and we are known to keep in luggage just to refill for several years now. We like the popcorn.

Can the souvenir butterbeer mugs be purchased initially with soda or tea instead of butterbeer, and if so how much are they? Also, I have seen pictures of a couple of different style mugs. Are they both available at all locations at WWOHP?
