Refillable Mug Poll

How often do you buy refillable mugs?

  • Every trip -- that's the rule

  • When the design changes

  • Never -- I have been using the same mug for years (I know you're out there!)

  • When the mood strikes me and I like the new design

  • I just drink from the soda fountain -- no mug for me!

I only buy them when my old one doesn't match the current style. I always bring my old mugs back to use during our trips.

**DISNEY GETS THEIR COKE PRODUCTS FOR FREE**

It costs Disney 5 cents for each cup of soda they sell....for the cup, that's it. Coke is a huge sponsor and donates their product to Disney.

Everytime I fill up my refillable mug, it doesn't cost Disney a thing.

We have bought the mugs twice, long ago, and found that it didn't work for us.

We like to buy drinks and have them in the room! So we get what we like and it is much closer than the quick service place :confused3

**DISNEY GETS THEIR COKE PRODUCTS FOR FREE**

I've seen this claim before, but I have been told by various CMs that it's untrue. They say that Disney gets its Coke products at a discount, but not free. Do you have some source that says otherwise?

We always buy new mugs but we also have the old ones with us that we reuse (saves trips from the room) also from the Walt Disney annual report to stockholders from several years ago, Disney and coke had an agreement that for 5 years they got coke products free to get guests used to coke so they would buy it at home, however by now that is probably expired.

Here is my problem with the mugs. I would only use them in the food court. The only time I'm there is going to or from a park. That would mean carrying the mug(s) with me to the park. That ain't happening.

And either way on the Coke thing, soda is like 10,000,000% markup anyway, LOL.

Back when I was a bartender, soda was the absolute highest profit item in the restaurant bar none.

We have always bought new ones. I even buy one each for the kids, even though they could technically share. My husband gets an old Powerade bottle each morning to fill up with something to drink that we take to the parks with him and then he just throw away the bottle instead of carrying around the mug all day. He thinks its okay because we buy the refillable mugs and it doesn't say anywhere that you have to use the mugs.

I choose OTHER: We purchase a new mug when we stay at a new resort... otherwise we are guilty of using the same old mugs. We bring them back year after year. We have AKL mugs, WL mugs, and the one this past year for anywhere. I think 3 sets are enough but we will end up buying new ones if Saratogo Springs had their own.

We bought them on our last trip which was 14 days. For shorted trips I don't think I'd bother. We would use them in the morning and then run them back to the room (luckily we were close by) and then again in the evening. So it was worth while. But on a shorter trip I think they might be more trouble than their worth.

We buy mugs every trip. It specifically states the conditions of purchase on the mug. We save money by purchasing these - I don't need to reuse them to make them worthwhile.

Ditto and very well said.:thumbsup2

We have mugs from CSR, CBR, POR, AKL, WL, and YOAMD Spring 2007, YOAMD Fall 2007 & I look forward to getting a 2008 mug. Still wish they'd bring back the resort specific ones!

That's when we use the mugs, also. Luckily, we always have a car when we visit and drive to the parks rather than taking the bus. Therefore, we simply give them a quick wash after eating and stow them in the car.

This was a great reminder -- leaving next week and have to remember to pack mine! Heck when I was there in August there were people at POFQ that had mugs that looks liked they were from the 70's!

We have mugs from POR, Pop, & ASMu as well as the generic 2007 ones. I confess to using the 2007 mugs on all 3 trips last year. Well only 2 trips really. We had the intention of using them at AKL in October, but we never made it to the food court. I find that the refill mugs are only worth the money if the food court is convenient. We are staying at Pop in a few weeks and we'll pass by the food court a lot, so the refill mugs will come in handy. I'll buy new 2008 ones if they've got them in by then. We reuse our refill mugs at home for coffee every morning, so I don't mind spending a few bucks on them. They are a fun & useful souvenir, but I don't need 20 with the same design!

I am an every time person but only because of being too lazy to take the old ones with me. The rules have little to do with it. Plus I use them as souvenirs.

We have bought the mugs every year on our trips. I have alot of the same mugs, but they have great memories. I have put the year of the trip on each of them and am able to remember each. Now that the YOAMD mugs are out and we have them, (we are planning another trip for this August), I am debating as to whether to buy another YOAMD unless it has this year's date on it.

On a side note, we have several mugs that we picked up IN the parks! Does anyone remember the 10th anniversary mug from MGM Studios? It is dated, "May1, 1989-May1, 1999. We also have one that is dated "fall 1999" with a picture of Cinderella's coach with "25" in the center of it. The third is that we got during the 25th anniversay that is a clouded silver speckled mug with blue handle and top that has the Cinderella coach with the "25" in the center and there is a Tinkerbell and a Fantasmic Mickey on it. These are my prized possesions.!

I voted every time. Now that's not because I'm above bringing my refillable mug back with me, nothing so noble. It's mostly because I stay at a different resort every time. If I'm only at a resort a few days, I bypass the mugs and just make my coffee in the room. (Always bring a coffee maker when I am staying Value). I use my mugs a work for coffee, and sometimes when I'm sitting outside on my patio, so I don't have to add more styrofoam to the garbage cans.

So far POFQ, CSR, All Star Sports, Contemporary. Next trip AKL, POP, and Boardwalk Villas.

I'll just say this, I am disapointed in the YOAMD mugs, they look like Christmas to me, and don't really have a disney feel. I wish they would bring back the real resort mugs. I was looking forward to getting the colourful ones from POP Century this year.

I have refilled mugs. I usually buy one, dd and I share the drinks. I figure it is $6.00 for the mug and I drink $6.00 worth of soda. I don't need them at home, so I don't buy them every trip.
