Love the mugs as momentos of our stays. We were at POP at the beginning of 2007 YOMD and got a resort specific mug. I will miss them if they are not available this month but will still buy one because its the right thing.

We have never purchased refillable mugs. We were going to during our last stay, but being that we were upgraded to concierge, we just hit the lounge for free sodas and juice.

I can see us buying them next trip. We will be there with my mother outlaw. She will be on a budget. I think we are going to end up staying at the ASMo resort and that also means lots of CS meals there over the course of 9 nights. I can see that buying the mugs will make sense for that trip. I've bought one refillable mug, and I never bought another one because I didn't know you could put it in the dishwasher (I never buy things that can't go into the dishwasher). So I've been just buying drinks out of the fountain w/o the mug. I recently found out that you can put the mug in the dishwasher (thanks to some DISers), and I will be buying a new mug when we return to WDW in October

We definitely get our moneys worth out of them. We get coffee (even tho it is terrible) every morning as well as another few drinks at the end of the day. Definitely a value for us.

I used to buy one every trip. But if they are sticking to this generic ones, I may join those who reuse them. Not that I don't want to spend the money, but how many of the same mugs do I get? It feels a waste to just throw them away, can't be too good for the enviroment.

You know, I have only bought mugs once.....last year (before that we just got soda in the cups), and I will probably buy one in March again, but I have to admit I hate the idea of buying new ones.....not because of the cost, but because we don't need all of these mugs. I don't like throwing them away, but my cupboards are already full and I don't have room to store these.

Honestly, I wish that if Disney wanted you to buy new mugs every time you visit they offered the option to buy a "band" for the handles (something like they use when you go to the after hour parks) at a discount price from the mug so you can just reuse your old mugs. Buying new ones seems like such a waste. BUT we will be getting new ones next time because we plan to hang out at the resort a lot.

I've only been to WDW once, but our neighbors gave us their mugs to use. They told us that we could use them at any of the value resorts. We were thrilled! We used them constantly, for over a week.

I never knew that you weren't supposed to re-use them (let alone use somebody else's!) until I read it here.

I swear that employees at Pop's food court saw me with those (old!) mugs in my hand - - I would carry them with me while paying for the food on my trays. No one ever said a word to me.

for those that don't like throwing them away, consider checking out www.freecycle.org as keeping items out of landfills is their main goal

another option would be to fill it w/disney-themed candy, wrap it up and give it to a friend, relative, etc as a souvie...

or you could sell 'em on ebay!

I will admit that I reuse my mugs. I buy new ones on every week long trip, but when I'm going down for 1-3 nights I just bring a mug for that resort. If they have a new design I'd buy it.

We buy them each trip. Like GoofySon'sMom, we'll be on the DDP next trip & will get them on the plan.

When we went this year I used the mug I got at AKL from '04 and nobody said a word about it!!! Much better than buying a new one every time IMO

I am shocked that lots of people are admitting to reusing their mugs and not being flamed/attacked about it. What a refreshing change. I am buying a new mug this year just because I want the new design. Otherwise I would borrow my sister's mug from her September trip.

The mugs can only be refilled at the resort food courts/snack bars. The refills are free with the purchase of a mug.

I haven't carried a mug back but plenty of people do it. I saw tons of the old WL mugs last month.

I would never carry one to & from home
I do use them at home for travel coffee

I would never think to use a mug that was not of the current design... That is too blatantly cheap. But I AM bringing my mug from 6 months ago. I think they are still the same, and flame me for justifying it, but if I go to Disney more than once a year, I should be able to use my mug if it is "current." It should be like an AP... It has a life expectancy on it.

The mug is part of my suvies....plus I fill them in the morning with lots of ice and a little water and carry it with me the rest of the day in the parks. Since we go in the summer, it is also un-godly hot, its empty by noon When its empty, I get ice water from the rest. or quick service and pour it into the mug for the second half of the day. DH also loads his up with ice and soda. The mug prefernce is up to you, if you don't like the design then you are not going to want to pay the $12 for it!..

Of the 3 times we stayed onsite, we only bought mugs once. We felt we could have made more use of them if we had stayed a bit closer to the food court- we were a looong hike away. I think we only refilled them a few times in our weeklong stay (pop- we were in the 90's building).

The next time we stay onsite for a week or more, and our room is closer to the food court area, we will probably try the mugs again.
