I was thinking about passing along our mugs to another family when we leave. We will be using them for 7 days but they are good for 14, correct? We don't need them here at home- kept them from last trip and they are never used-and thought it would be a nice thing to do. Is this allowed? Thoughts?

I'm pretty sure that Disney considers activated mugs to be non-transferrable.

It's a sweet gesture but I don't think the mugs are transferable and most people probably wouldn't want to use someone else's mug without the ability to sanitize them in some way.

You won't find a rule that says passing along mugs is allowed but I think it's a nice thing to do. A lady gave me 3 mugs at the Poly back when each resort had their own mug design. I happily accepted.

Of course they would need to be run through a dishwasher :) We stay at DVC villas- washing isn't a problem.

From what I understand, though, running them through a dishwasher can ruin the chip in them? Maybe once is okay, I'm not sure. I hand wash ours!

Allowed by WDW? Doubt it very much. I think it's a nice gesture, but candidly, I wouldn't want someone else's mug. You could try and find someone though.

You guys never drink Anything at any restaurant other than a fast food place, huh? We all use cups others have used and had washed. :). I would take them. I know how to wash dishes.

Ha ha...good point. I have to say though, that I still wouldn't take them, but don't feel any judgment about anyone who would.

Haha! True! Over the past 30 yrs I've had many "dishwasher failures" (dishes/flatware coming out of a wash cycle with crud dried on- yuck!) but anything I handwash is guaranteed CLEAN! We use our old refillable mugs here at home. I hand wash them bc I don't want the outside graphics to fade. I use hot soapy water with a little bleach added. Oh, and I take the lids apart to get the underneath of that sliding piece clean. It pops right back together again. Easy!

I would take them lol! When are you leaving? Hahaha jk

So you would accept them. But another family might not have dishwashing facilities.

I would not accept such a gift.

They are for your use.

I bring a sponge and soap - I wash our mugs in the bathroom sink at the resort between each use and dry thoroughly. I know they have somewhere at the food court to rinse them, but that's not clean enough for me!

Otherwise, no matter if it was my mug or I got it from someone, that's kind of icky not to wash it for a whole week.

:)We always leave ours on the side at the refill clean suggesting loudly that they are not done. CM or other guests can 'despose' of them how they see fit..

We are traveling in August for one week. We always scrub them out everyday- people don't??

We always bring small baggie with dish soap (couple tablespoons). We was the mugs daily. We have six. If the pattern is the same this year we will re-gift at the Riverside Mill when we bolt. I'd rather someone else get to use them even if they don't fill them there.

Gotta say this thread is stressing me out a little bit! :) I have saved every mug we've ever gotten..and there are 6 of us...and we go more than once a year!!!!!

We actually do use them at home. They are great at keeping things hot or cold, and don't get condensation and ruin furniture. Our DD"s brought them to college with them, enough even to share with roommates who appreciated using them.

I think it's a great idea to pass them along. We stayed in a trailer at Fort Wilderness recently, when we left we had a lot of unopened food and drink..my husband felt funny about asking but he asked a couple of people if they could use any of it, they all said no though. The fellow who came to pick up our rented trailer put it all on the picnic table and assured us someone would make use of it. I hope he was right.
