:surfweb: I am getting down to the small stuff.
Does anyone have a picture of a refillable drink mug offered at Disney Resorts? About how many ounces do they hold? Are they plastic? Do they come with tops? I have 8 people to buy for and that is over a hundred dollars with tax. Were they worth the money to you?

depends on your group if they're worth the money or not. My teen ds's it's definately worth the money! They're old enough to come and go without an adult and can also take the younger ones for me. I think they set a record last trip for the number of refills in one night lol. I think they're about $12, vrs refills that are $2,50-$3.00 each. We get our money's worth in one night lol. They are plastic and they do come with lids, but the lids are not spill proof. They have an opening in them, so a toddler will dump them if he turns them upside down. I think they're 8 ounces, but I'm not sure and we've never measured. They used to be different designs for each resort, now I think they're all the same. We're going with ds16, ds15, 2 dd's9, dd5, and ds2, and will be getting the mugs for everyone but ds2. He'll get a sippy type cup and can share my mug when he fusses. My mother, sister, and neice are also going, and dmom will either steal mine like she did last trip or buy her own lol.

I meant were the refillable mugs worth the money you paid....but I think you knew that.
Thanks for the answer.

I just measured with a measuring cup, they will hold over 12 oz. They are plastic. I don't have a picture since mine are from 2006 and we will buy new ones this year. I know it is alot of money but if we had to buy that many drinks during our stay I am sure we would at the least break even if not better. Plus you also have a souvenir cup for home too.

If you like to drink they are soooo worth it. We refill ours constantly and I suspect we make our money back in the first day or two of our trip. They also make a great souvenir.

If your kids are old enough have them buy them out of their spending money.

I'm sure once you explain how they will get free drinks when they are at the resort, they won't complain about having to spend their own money on it.

The stupidest thing I did was not to buy the mug. I kept thinking we won't need it because most of our time would be spent in the parks.
Buy the mugs- you'll spend way more on various drinks for everyone.

We bought resort mugs for our 2 night stay before our cruise and I still saved money compared with just buying drinks seperately. :thumbsup2

The mugs were the best thing we spent our money on. There's three of us...me (31), husband (33), and son (7). We started every morning filling our mugs at the POP food court. Kiddo would get frozen coke, Husband had his coffee, and I had my morning Coke. After the parks, we'd stop back by for kiddo's "Night" sprite, and cokes for the parents (that we'd promptly go to the room and top off with whiskey.) If we were hanging out at the pool, we'd sometimes go back in twice for refills. It was well worth it for us. We'll totally be buying them for our next trip.

We buy the mugs every trip. I am a huge ice tea drinker as is dh. We also let the kids drink coke products from their mugs but then when we eat cs, we order ice ater (which is free). Now if you are on the DDP, you will get a soda with each cs meal. But even when we do the DDP, we get the mug. And then order a water bottle for our drink at a cs place.

I think they are a great deal. It only takes four drinks to pay for the mug. And it makes a nice souveneir.

If you are renting a car, its nice to fill up before you head to the parks, then its in the car when you return and you can easily refill again.

The mugs hold about 12 oz. they are made of plastic, dishwasher safe, and they do have lids; makes a great souviner I think they are definitly worth the money at most places. what I mean, is resortsthat are spread out like SSR are very inconvienient to get refills and for us means we won't be likely to do so. If you don't get atleast 12 refills over the course of your stay, I wouldn't get the mug

I love getting the mugs...they are definitely worth the money. It's great to be able to get as much as you want to drink. And to be able to run in after you come home from the park to a get drink before going back to the hotel. I also like to bring it to work now with coffee in it so I don't buy it from the cafeteria...so it's still saving me money!!

We're also considering if the mugs will work for us. For those of you that say you get it filled before leaving for the parks or get it filled on your way back to your room....Do you take the mug to the parks with you? I'll be carrying a backpack but I'm not sure I'll have room for empty mugs in there.

We haven't ever bought the mugs. DH doesn't drink soda. Neither of us drinks coffee. We usually drink water, which is free. We didn't purchase any drinks at all at the resort on our last trip. I suppose if we had bought mugs, we would have used them, but not really enough to get our money's worth. We don't spend that much time at the resort, and I wouldn't carry a mug with me in the parks. I really think it depends on each individual.

That said, they do appeal to me as a souvenir, which may make them worth buying on a future trip. My 2008 New Year's resolution was to skip soda for the year. So far, so good! If I was drinking soda, I'd be buying a mug three weeks from today!

I carry mine to the parks. I attach it to my bag with a carabiner that I picked up for about $5. Then I keep it filled with water from the water fountains and stay hydrated all day.

I do drink coffee and soda, so it works for me.

That's an interesting idea. I might get a carabiner clip to attach my dd's cups to my bag. They are planning on having frozen cokes every night when we get back to our hotel, lol.

One day at the pool MORE THAN MAKES UP for the cost of the mug!!!! It' only take 4 refills to get your money back.....on a hot Florida day...loaded cup with ice and beverage...piece of cake!!!! So I say go for it!!!

Another reason to get the mugs is to make Resort coffee drinkable! :rotfl2: Fill the mug up with 1/3 to 1/2 hot chocolate and the rest with coffee - leave room for as much cream and sugar as you like - woot! - instant Mocha :thumbsup2

The frozen coke sounds really good! Do all the resorts have it?

The only resort I know of that has frozen cokes is the POP. That and the buses are the main reasons we decided to try it as our resort this year. :)
