Are the refillable mugs worth the cost of $35.00 for the 7-day cruise? We are traveling with 3 children and are trying to decide if we want to spend the extra money.

Where can the mugs be filled at? can they be filled at the fast food places? Are the locations convenient or are they in out of the places?

Please help me decide!!

Tammy

YES -- there are lots of very convenient places to have the mugs filled. One of the draw backs is having to lug them around. Soda's cost $1.50 each plus an automatic 15% gratuity. If you will be purchasing more than 3 soda's a day then the mug is a value. You may want to just purchase 2 for your family --- as kids generally 'share' drinks anyway. Another option would be to bring your own soda on board.
:D

We bought 2 for our two kids in May. They are definitely worth it. Especially if you plan on being at the pool for any long period of time.

You can fill them at the poolside bars or any lounges.

i don't drink much pop, but my husband and son really do, so it is worth it to have them get mugs...

Well, thru AAA we were COMP the mugs. I wouldn't purchase 4 if I had to buy them the next time. I would definately purchase 2 for fam of 4 though. I liked to go to the club and even get water with lime. DH says it definately paid for itself on CC when you go to the bar and then fill it up (soda) and then bring it to your chair. Not big drinkers but definately would have paid for the mixed drink if we hadn't brought our wine to drink in the cabin.

Definitely! We bought one for our family of 4, great by the pools. The only thing I would do different is buy it the first day (to get the MOST value!!). Plus it is a great souvenir.:D

My DH bought one and it payed off. I was considering it for one of my kids. Once on board I decided against it for my son. There was plenty of punch and milk for them. They did get soda at dinner, which was free.:D Also, at the bars, you can buy shots of liquor with your soda if you like.;)

We purchased the mugs for our 3 boys but had I known that we would receive complimentary soda in our Cat. 2 room I wouldn't have purchased them. However, they still are a good deal if your family drinks a lot of soda. HTH

Okay, I am a little confused about the mugs and soda on board. I was told you could buy a card for $30.00 to get soda onboard. Now I read they are actually mugs and cost $35.00. And I was told they do not serve soda unless you buy the card/mug, but I have read a couple of places the children get soda w/dinner. I'm so confused!

Having been on a cruise before they started the mug deal I would have to say the "soda Card sticker" is much better. I don't like the idea of having to carry a mug around, clean it and also make sure the mug is yours! Too much of a hassle and last year we opted NOT to get the mugs for our 3 boys...2 are teens. They never complained about it or asked. Once in a while they got a soda at the bar and my son told me that late at night the bartender would give them free soda...SHHHH. We did however, bring our own soda cans on board...also bottled water. There is also ice water, punch and milk to drink. Plan to do the same for our Western next year. I really wish DCL would go back to the sticker deal or atleast give us the option....what was wrong w/ that anyway?

DisnyMik, DCL used to have the sticker program but replaced it with the mugs a while ago. The cost for the mug is $5 per night of your cruise, so it's $15 for a 3-night cruise, $20 for a 4-night and $35 for the 7-night.

My daughter doesn't drink soda and DH and I only drink one a day so the mugs don't make sense for us. Remember too that you can bring your own sodas onboard if you are simply moderate soda drinkers that may be your best bet. :D

Our teenager drinks ALOT of soda (I am NOT proud
of this fact, but I also pick my fights), BUT, he has
a habit of setting it down and maybe forgetting it -
what would happen - if we keep the receipt, would
the cruise line replace it free of charge?

I bought 4 mugs for 2 adults and 2 teens. Since we all like soda pop, it was definitely worth it!!

It was VERY HOT and very sunny every day and we were always thirsty. Getting refills at any bar at any time was very convenient, and we could ask for loads of ice without worrying that the ice was taking up room for expensive soda.

The price was $15 for the 3-day cruise (total, for each person), plus the 15% gratuity (so it was more than $15).

The thing I didn't like was that the mugs were sold to us with the $2 lanyards at additional cost, and none of us ever used the lanyard. If you don't expect to use the lanyard, you can buy the mug without it. (You can always change your mind and buy the lanyard later.)

For the 3-day cruise we never washed out the mugs--just emptied them and occasionally also rinsed them with clean water.

We had a permanent marker with us and marked our mugs with our names in case they got lost. I am sure if you hold on to your receipt and they do get misplaced DCL would give you another one (at least I hope they would).

I was hoping if the mugs got lost they would be turned in since our names were on them. We were good and didn't misplace them at all.

Kids lost their KTTW card a few times though!!
