just out of curiousty if you refer someone to dvc and they join is there any kind of referral bonus?

Yes but it depends on what state you live in. Some states don't allow it.

I don't know about Georgia but go to the DVC web site and after signing in, click on refer a friend. It has a list of states on a pull down menu. You can fill the form out right there and send it in by e-mail.

For one referral it is $200 in Georgia. I got it a few months ago. A guy at work bought at BCV after I had talked about our BWV and VWL purchases and he just happened to mention me! What a surprise. I chose the 200 Disney Dollars, but I think they would have also applied the $200 towards my dues for the next year.

If you have a second referral within the same year you get even more, and so on, up to five referrals within the same year (I think), but I'll never reach that. I was thrilled with just one!

A few weeks after he closed I got a form in the mail to fill out. Then a few weeks after that the Disney Dollars arrived via Fed Ex.

The pulldown menu on the DVC site lists all states. Not all states allow referral bonuses, correct? Where is the list of states that allow them?

Here is the list of states that allow referrals...........

Alabama,California,Delaware,Florida,Georgia,Hawaii,Idaho,Illinois,Iowa,Kansas,Louisianna,Maryland,Mass,Missisippi,Missouri,Nevada,New Hampshire,New Jersey,New Mexico,New York,North Dakota,Ohio,Rhode Island,South Dakota, and Wisconsin.

Would anyone happen to know when the person you referred will recieve their bonus? I referred good friends of mine when I bought at SSR - what a nice surprise for them!

No...........you both don't have to be from the "allowed" states referrals. Just the person doing the referral.

As a resident in a state that doesn't "allow" referal compensation, who has refered 2 members and was referred by a neighbor who has referred two members, I have to say.....

This is really crummy! Its a shame Disney doesnt find a way to at least appreciate referals (more than a note), when others are receiving hundreds of dollars for it. :happy1:

Once the deed is recorded, the referring member gets their bonus. Fortunately, we live in Massachusetts which allows the bonuses.

Of course I split the referral bonus with the folks who mentioned my name; the extra $100 Disney dollars ($200 split two ways) were a nice dinner out for both families. Not sure what I would do if I made two referrals in the same calendar year, since we would get $500 Disney bux for the second: maybe split it up three ways... Would be nice.

and Stacy, perhaps your referrals should give the name of a DVC friend in a state where bonuses are allowed (not sure if that works), and they could build volume, and send you the proceeds if they are nice like me .
