red wine suggestion?

Does anyone know of a nice, full-bodied red wine to go with a selection of cheeses? We like cabernet, we have tried several varieties. I am looking for something in the $15-20 range.

It's actually closer to the $10 range but DH and I enjoy Fat Bas**** Shiraz - it's very good with cheese.

I was going to suggest this as well, as I polish off a bottle right now. You can get the large bottle for $11!

Chateau St Michelle- both the cab and the merlot are great. I prefer the single vinyard ones but they are almost twice the price of the regular ones that are about $13-$19

One of my favorite red is J.Lohr. They range in $ but the 2003 Cabernet Estates is very good. I love their red zin too but thats a lighter - medium body and very tasty.

Our "table" wine is Turning Leaf cab (reserve, I think). We also buy a lot of Kendall Jackson, Mondavi and Woodbridge. Don't discount inexpensive Bordeaux's!

I think we have had Fat ******* at some point in time.

We do enjoy the Yellow Tail wines.

I wanted something special for Valentine's Day.

Niebaum Coppola's Blue Label Merlot is wonderful! I have served it to people who swear they hate merlot and they have loved it. It has many cabernet qualities.

I understand the estate's name just was changed from Niebaum Coppola to Rubicon Estates. Francis Ford Coppola, the director, owns this winery.

Actually, every red I've tried from his offerings has been good. I just stay away from his whites. He doesn't do those well, IMHO.

Goofy, what year Silver Oak did you serve? Could that have made a difference in the blind tasting? i.e. it was too young, or aged more than the Monte Antico? That's very interesting that your eonophile friends liked the $10 bottle better. I'll have to pick up one, myself, to taste.

Another suggestion for something a little less known is Tintarra Shiraz. I believe it's about $22 bottle. Very smooth!
