Red Lobster being cheap!!!!

I find it amusing that some want to keep bringing up the "its frozen food" Well DUH!! Where I live, I would hope to heck they are keeping it frozen or its going to go bad. Sure if you live a hop skip and a jump from the ocean it would suck to have it frozen when local restaraunts probably have the fresh alternative....but for where I live, its better then nothing :thumbsup2

You wanna talk about food waste, ever eat at a Cheesecake Factory?? I ate at one for the first time this weekend. Sure would have been nice if they had told us newbies (which they knew that we were) that a Cobb salad could feed 5 people....and Im not kidding, we have pictures to prove it! I felt so guilty having to leave the remaining, but we were flying out the next day so no way to take home left overs. I also refused to eat an extra portion to make it look like less was wasted. Goodness, no wonder they have to charge a ton! Id rather a smaller portion and a better price, but that probably just me.

well, frankly, i think the portions served in most restaurants are GIGANTIC and unhealthy. No wonder we are all FAT.

Flame away.

ANd not everyone just LOVES the cheese biscuits. And I bet they DO throw away more than we can imagine.

Not to mention, I was with a friend one night and we were scarfing down those buscuits, (yes I DO love them) she said before she left she got on a website and looked up the calories, OH MY> I can't remember what it was, but it was EXTREME. In other words 2 biscuits was more calories than a whole meal should be.

I was just there two nights away with a party of 6. After a 40 minute wait (ugh) we were all starving when we were seated. We were all salavating for the cheese biscuits. As soon at the waitress came for our drink orders I told her we had waited a long time and were very ready for the biscuits. She brought out 2 baskets that were both over-flowing. I am guessing about 20 total. Food was good/ Service was good. I never go without a coupon, though. Sign up for the email club and you'll get $4 or $5 off two entrees. My wife gets the full sized meal and takes left-overs home for next day. I, of course, get a full-sized meal and polish it off right then and there!!:rotfl:

No, it's not just you. I would also pay less and get less. Then DH and I could order separate entrees sometime. I don't always want what he wants, tho we usually find something upon which we agree. We also feel very guilty for just throwing away food...sometimes even splitting leaves a ton of food and i don't always want to take some home.

An average restaurant portion is actually about 5 'real' portions. Again, no wonder we're all overweight! (Well, lots of us....LOTS). Again, I would rather pay half the price and get half the food.

Be careful - I got flame-toasted roasted on the CB for pointing out how many calories were in something recently. People don't like to be told that some food items, while they may be tasty, are not good for them.

I always thought it was funny that we had a Red Lobster down the street from us when we moved to the coast of FL. I mean, we are right next to the ocean, who would want to eat at RL? But the place was always packed around 4:30 pm with the local seniors. I guess something went wrong because a few months ago we saw a moving truck pull up and the place was gone by the next day.

Well, having 9 grams of fat in each bisquit, maybe they did them a favor! :lmao: They're good, and easy to make at home. Red Lobster has to have the worst restaurant food I've ever tasted - I would actually choose a Chinese buffet over it, and even that is so low down on my list (of course, it's the kids' favorite). There are literally over 100 restaurants within 10 minutes of here with better food.

I went back and reread and you're right!

Like I said before, they ALWAYS bring a basket that has one biscuit for each person at our Red Lobster. This totally makes sense to me. However, if they say unlimited, they do need to bring more when asked.

OP, did they ask for more refills and get turned down? Does that store's menu still say unlimited?

No, they just got tired of having to bug the waiter for more biscuits. The times that we have been in the past, which is'nt very often due to the price, they have usually brought out two biscuits per person, and ASK YOU if you wanted more bread after you had fininshed those. This was not the case this time. But like I said before, when we ate there when they had the ALL YOU CAN EAT SHRIMP they overloaded us with biscuits at least twice hoping that we would get a good fill of those and not eat as many shrimp. Its all about the money.

of course it's all about the money! That's what viable businesses do. Most restaurants fail within 3 years of opening. Yup, it's all about the money.

ITA!! Couldn't pay me to go to Red Lobster....Now that I think of it, I'm not even sure there is one in Northern NJ.
FWIW, I feel the same way about other "chain" restaurants Chili's, Olive Garden... yuck! There are way too many good restaurants around me to go to any of these places...

Just my 2 cents...
karenos;)

DH and I used to like RL, but last time we were there we noticed that all the food tasted the same, no matter what you ordered. And it was all over seasoned and slightly over cooked. For the money we'd rather dine at some of the finer local restaurants near us.

The biscuts ARE good though! :)

There is one in Secaucus - we only went because dd13 got hooked on the commercials a few years ago, and picked it for her birthday restaurant. I've never been to Chili's, and only one Olive Garden, because we were in the middle of nowhere. It's funny how there are so many chain restaurants here in NJ, and yet I don't know a single person who admits to going to them! :rotfl2:

sorry you have to ask for more 150 belly bomb chesse biscuits lol

Chain reasurants suck in general, the food is tastless or just ok, most of the time i can make better at home..

I love the mom and pop places we have around here... oh some of the places I will enter for good food, but thats a whole new theard :scared1:

2 a person is a ton of caleries plus the meal. IMO most places serve too much and helps with the overweight of the nation. I should know I used to be.
