Hi everyone. I called the VIP passholders number at the end of May. About a week ago, they returned my call, told me I was eligible for the pass but the issue was I was at a graduation party without my credit card or DVC member number. The nice CM said no worries, you are in the system just call back and you can make your purchase. I called the number attempting to purchase the tickets today. The CM had no clue what i was talking about, tried to take my info again to put the form in and I told her I already did that. Then for some reason after I said I wanted the DVC Gold Pass she abruptly transferred me to MS. I stayed on hold for about 2 hours (was cleaning my house and on speaker) and when no one answered I hung up. I"m looking for advice on what to do. Who should I call? I don't think MS can help me at all. So frustrating. Not sure why I give disney so much money to go through these frustrations! thank is advance to anyone who can give some advice

Just give the passholder line a call again, tell them you need to follow up with the department handling the recovery offer as you were told to call back since you were not able to purchase at the time they called and verified your eligiblity.

You are correct in that MS can not help you. Just keep indicating you want to purchase recovery tickets and don't mention DVC until you are actually on with the correct recovery people as they will know to make sure you pay the DVC price!

Also, they will call you back again. They did for me although it was about 10 days apart.

I went through this 3 weeks ago. Called the Passholder line, they confirmed I was eligible and was told I would be called back in 30 days. 10 days later I received a call and missed it. Called back and was on hold for 45 minutes, but then had to transfer me to another extension for the AP. Told me there was only a 5 minute wait. One hour later I was still on hold. They picked up and said since I was out of state I could only buy the Platinum pass for about $1000. WHAT? I said I only paid about $700 in 2019 for a Gold AP then they asked if I was DVC and I said yes. At that point they said I had to leave a message for the DVC Customer Care line who would call back as I was not allowed to call directly. One hour later they called me and I got the AP, Had they missed me, I would have to go through the entire process again. So, keep trying and know there is a dedicated group handling the DVC AP but you have to go through the Passholders line first. I paid $765 for the Gold.

Hi there, how does one qualify for the recover AP? I was an AP holder that expired in April 2020 - and took the (very small) reimbursement for the unused time. I've been back a few times now and SORELY miss the AP. Just wondering if this situation will qualify if I call them?
Thanks for the help!

You would qualify. If your pass expired or you cancelled during the closure you qualify for a recovery AP.

Why do folks keep saying “if your pass expired during the closure”?

I understand the cancel part, but nobody’s pass expired during the closure.

Actually they did. If you chose to accept a pro-rated refund instead of an extension then the pass technically could have expired during the closure. For example if you had an expiration date of say May 1. You chose to take a refund instead of the 3+ month extension then technically it expired. In order to do this you had to call in.

Those who technically cancelled would be ones who took advantage of the cancellation option that had nothing to do with the extension. APs received an email shortly before the re-opening in July that asked if they wanted to cancel and receive a pro-rated refund for between the park opening date and their pass expiration date.

ETA: This is how Disney can distinguish whether they can back date your recovery AP to the date of expiration and charge you a pro-rated amount (for those that expired) or sell you a new one at full price with an activation of the dare of purchase.

It would have expired at the end of the last day the parks were open.
Semantics, yes… but so is it to say it expired when the parks closed.
Clearly that is not what is meant however, as most say “canceled or expired”.

Ok does this work better for you….

Those who had expiration dates originally during the closure who chose to not take a refund therefore their expiration dates changed?

As far as Disney is concerned recovery APs are available to those who had APs that cancelled or expired during the closure. That is how they look at it. And this thread is about recovery APs.
