Recommended restaurants not to be missed

We have the QSDP but would like to pay for a couple of nice meals.Would you recommend the ones in packages ie Ohana night, fantasmic show? Or just regular restaurants

Hi, it depends what you like to eat and whether you want characters etc. I would recommend regular meals as the shows are quite expensive. We would pay OOP for 'Ohana as that was a lovely experience, the food was plentiful and the venue was superb for watching fireworks. We would also pay for a Crystal Palace breakfast to start the holiday as with an early ADR, you can be in Main Street when it is deserted. I would like to try Be Our Guest because Beauty and the Beast is my favourite film. The kids loved Chef Mickey - we had good character interaction there and you get to meet the main 5

Another vote for Crystal Palace - although my kids are refusing to do it this year!!! Too old for characters apparently.

Our other must-do is Boma - we love dinner and lunch there.

To be honest we have rarely had a bad meal at WDW. Some haven't been worth the price but only 1900PF we wouldn't visit again for the food rather than service issues.

Restaurants are very personally and you will get many differing opinions

Personally, I wouldn't bother with the dinner packages particularly. The Fantasmic package is OK however if you can go to a late show you can get seating no problem.

I would rather pay for Yachtsman Steakhouse which is a signature than ever go back to 'Ohana for dinner. It was the most disappointing meal we have had in Disney and for me it is very expensive for what it is. On the otherhand 'Ohana breakfast IMO is really good value and the food is usually very good. It has Lilo & Sitch with Mickey & Pluto (No characters at dinner).

Hi I think the answer to this depends on the ages in your party.

When our girls where little (a long time ago) our list was

Crystal palace
sci fi diner (from 6 up)
Sana -our teen loved this as did my young nephews (6 and 4)
rain forest (but I hate it due to poor organisation)
T-rex - again loved by my young nephews

As they got older the list changed to
San Agelo inn - fav setting for our the family - Our Number 1 ARD every trip
Kona cafe diner - then watching the fireworks on the polly beach- a must do
Sanna- they like the food and then wandering around animal watching
Sci fi dinner- quick lunch only

And when even older -

List as above but added to with
Tepandeo sp?- my kids had never been to one of these before so loved it.
Flying fish - but wow pricey- only when on dining plan (watch on dining plan and tip was nearly $100 for 4 of us)
Cali grill- nice to watch fireworks - not sure I'd pay- ok on dining plan
Planet Hollywood- yip I know- but they are teens lol

Ones we now avoid
Ohanas - not our sort of food - lots chunks of very dry meat (or over done prawns) dumped onto your plate as staff pass. - may just have been a bad night

Rainforest cafe- don't get me started - A NIGHTMARE place - could be great for kids but disorganized chaos (we have tried it a few times - gets wore each time - never again - dtd one)

The one in living seas (Coral something?) - ok but not great for the price.

One of my favourites is captains grill. Also ohanas breakfast with stitch. Teppan edo's and chef de France. As tracy said its each to their own

Asking this question IMHO could just confuse you all the more.Captains Grille was the worst meal we ever had and the only time we have ever complained in our seven visits to Disney.Our personal favourite is California Grill for service,location and quality,others however have had really bad experiences there. I think your dining experience should be based on what suits your needs,age of children,taste in food-do you want character,style or buffet.A good place to start would be to think of your budget and look at the menus and don't take too much notice of reviews.
But saying that here goes
Best Signature= California Grill, Yachtsman Steakhouse
Best Character=Chef Mickey
Best Buffet=Ohana
Best Burger=Sci Fi Diner
Best Fun=Whispering Canyon

Best Signature : Artist Point.
Best character meal : Garden Grill and 1900 Park Fare dinner.
Other favourites : Teppan Edo, Be Our Guest, O'hana dinner, Captains Grill, Le Cellier, Kouzinna.

And just for fun

Best CS : Kringla Bakery, Norway.
Best snack: Funnel cake of course!!!!!!! Closely followed by a Red Velvet Cup Cake.
Best Burger : Beaches and Cream.

Everyone has a different answer to this question. Not only does personal taste matter but also experience varies night to night

In my honest opinion

For top notch adventurous food - Jiko
For something different - trepan Edo
Hearty food - liberty tree tavern
If your into ice cream - beaches and cream
Steak - like Le cellier but not sure has the best setting and pretty hectic

Honourable mention to the pizza window on the boardwalk for a quick service at a lovely location

To avoid....found the two places I ve eaten at the grand Floridian as pretty poor

Just as a caveat I have never done some of people's favourites such as California grill, flying fish and Kouzzina

Would like to try the Chinese at Epcot. Anyone ever been?

I'd put a vote in for Hoop Dee Doo Revue. The food is pretty basic, but excellent quality. Great value as it includes alcohol and tips. We all loved it, although you have to fully get on board with the utter "Frontier" cheesiness of it. If you can do that it's a fun experience. And don't be afraid to ask for more food - they'll keep bringing it as long as you keep asking for it .

I agree with this! I'd advise having a look at the menus online and seeing what takes your fancy. What I love you may hate and visa versa!

For instance we loved Yachtmans on our last trip and it is a must do for our next trip...however I've read posts on dis saying that poster hated it. On our last trip we tried Boma and were not impressed and felt it was the only disappointing TS meal we had and we would not go again...but others adore it!
