Hello all--I have all my disney dining in place for our Dec/Jan trip. However, we will be going to see the Blue Man Group on December 30, the 9:00 show. I'm looking for suggestions for dinner in CityWalk or in that general area. There's me, DH, and DD-13, all pretty adventurous diners. We are thinking about Margaritaville or Latin Quarter, but that's just based on descriptions I've read. I haven't seen any reviews...also, I'm unfamiliar with the area, so I don't know what else there is, outside of CityWalk. Ideas, anyone?

I am going to move this thread to the Universal Board where you may get more answers.

I have heard the latin quarter is good and we ate at Margaritaville in june and don't know if it was a bad time or just me but we had the cheese burger in paridise and it was just awful and bland no taste but the valcanoe nacho's were great.
we also ate at the nascar grille and loved it and the food was great and reasonably priced.
hope this helps and have a great time:woohoo:

I think you'd do well at any of the restaurants in CityWalk. I LOVE Margaritaville and Hard Rock Cafe. But again...you should be good at any place there.

You can never go wrong with a Pig sandwich at the Hard Rock:)

'Nother vote for Mville...a must every trip! Have also had good eats at Pat's, Bubba's and NASCAR....

IMHO - Margaretivilles hands down:banana:
But we also love NBA Its actually very good food - not at all what I had expected which was courtside food like hamburgers and nachos.

Enjoy

Sue

Just went to Mville and Latin quarter this week. Mville was great! We truly enjoyed the live music on the deck for dinner, food was good, margarita was great! I think this may be my 1st pick from now on!
Latin Quarter was beautiful inside! I LOVED the atmosphere here. Food was ok, in my opinion. Being from Tampa, we have really great Cuban food, so maybe that's why I thought it was just ok. My sangria was a tad watered down it seemed.
We ate at Bubba Gumps last trip, and enjoyed it. Food was good and we had fun with the trivia the waiter tested us on.
HTH, and of course this is just IMHO!:goodvibes

Another vote for Margaritaville. It is always our first meal when we arrive.

Love the food, the margaritas and especially the atmosphere. Ate there last Saturday night. The music was great and the stilt walkers did a great job getting the crowd involved in singing along. The best part is they always honor the room card for FOTL. We were told that the wait was about an hour to an hour and a half. I showed the room key. She told us it would shave a few minutes off the wait. It was literally 2 minutes later - we had just gone down the steps into the store when the pager started vibrating.

Had a great lunch last week at Hard Rock Cafe despite them charging 3x the bill to our room. The french dip was wonderful!!

We used to love Pastamore but had an absolutely awful meal there last week.

Not too crazy about Nascar - have never had a good meal there. Not bad, but have had better meals at the other restaurants so we just don't go there anymore.

We enjoyed all the places we ate at in the summer, and like yasuern said NBA was very good and DW enjoyed it as she was very apprehensive, but now is on her list for next year

Magaritaville or Bubba Gump would be good choices.

My personal favorite would be Emeril's. I have eaten in Latin Quarter and wasn't overlu impreseed but it's also not on the top of my preferred cuisine list either.

There is a sports place there which might be good as well as a host of other places.

Since you're asking what else there is in the Universal area, take a drive down International Drive from the area by Dolly Parton's Dixie Stampede you have the Orlando Premium outlets, go north from there you have the Sea World area followed by the Convention Center which is next to Pointe Orlando, plenty of good restaurants there like the Capital Grille.Next door is Wonderworks which is like a Museum/entertainment center housed in an upside down building.Keep going north you'll see other attractions like Ripley's believe it or not, several mini-golf and go-kart places,Wet n Wild waterpark, and if you go about 2 more exits east on I-4 and get off at Conroy is the Mall at Millenia, probably the nicest mall in Orlando.

. . . and have dessert and wine at The Dessert Lady,4900 S. Kirkman Road, in the shopping mall at the corner of Conroy and Kirkman, just a short drive north of Universal.

Best desserts in Orlando.

Believe me, you'll thank me.

we ate at the black angus steakhouse--very good not great ambience, texas de brazil-meat eaters paradise, and dixie crossroads, great seafood. all were on i-drive about a mile or so from univ. the palm rest. is at the hard rock hotel, very expensive but good
