Recommendation for VWL studio location?

Does anyone have any recommendations for VWL studios, based on the following (some of which I'm sure is contradictory). We've not been to the Villas, only the WL, and although I've looked at the VWL room layouts, I'm still not sure what to request if anything.

1. We're smokers, so would ideally be on the 1st floor not far from the DSA (which I understand is by the health club -- how ironic!).
2. We would like to have a decent view - not of the dumpsters, preferably. I'd rather look inward (pool?) than outward (lake) unless someone tells me the lake view is better?
3. If all the 1st floor views are nothing but blah, I don't mind being on a higher floor for a better view.
4. Don't need to be close to laundry or anything.
5. Would like to be closer rather than further from the main WL.

Any thoughts? I don't want to request a particular room # or anything, but just wondering what I could ask for that might meet the largest # of those items?

You basically have the choice of (1) woods, (2) woods or (3) woods with a slight view of the pool. There are very few villas with lake views (only through the trees).

There really are only two exits from the villas and they are on opposite sides of the lobby. One isn't any better than the other as to closeness to the WL. One elevator bank in the center of the building.

It's a small resort.

I think I'm going to just take my chances are not do anything and see what we get. That's really our normal approach anyway, and I have yet to ever ask to change rooms due to a view issue!

When we were there is Jan I requested a studio close to the lodge. Was given a 1st floor which faced the walking path between the lodge and villas. It had greenery in front of the patio so it wasn't really bad and I didn't spend really any time on it. What was nice was that it was 3 doors away from the exit and hardly anyone used it. This exit is right by the bus stop and the entrance to the lodge. Also you go right past the smoking area before you get to the lodge entrance at the arcade.

Edited: Can you tell me where the main lodge is compared to that Villas floorplan. Is the lodge on the left side of the page or it below the exit between rooms 1501-2 and 1506? Just trying to get my bearings. I assume it not straight across from the Main Entrance, because that seems like it would lead to the bus stop / resort driveway area. Am I seeing that right (I am a bit spatially challenged you know -- just ask my DH!).

If you stand with your back to the "main entrance" of the villa on the chart and think about a circular path to a 2-3 o'clock position, that's the way to the main lodge. That way you would be entering the lobby by the mercantile shop.

You are correct about "straight" being where the bus stop is, but you also go off to the right a ways and then circle back to a 12 position.
