Background Info:
princess: Me - 22 when we go
pirate: Boyfriend - 24 when we go
2 weeks, May 2010 (hopefully)

Requirements:
- Hotel on or close to I-Drive (we won't have a car)
- Not a motel (ie. we're looking for somewhere which has interior corridors)
- Preferably with a small kitchen area (or even just a fridge), however, this isn't absolutely necessary

Both really interested in staying at Universal's RPR but trying to decide on a couple of hotels we'd like to stay at to keep an eye on prices.

Looking forward to hearing people's suggestions :)

Hi, I've only been twice to Orlando, stayed in Enclave Suites both times. Sits on Carrier Drive, straight across the road from Pirates Dinner Adventure and only about 10 min walk to Wet & Wild. We thought it was quite a good place to stay, you have your own kitchenette which is quite good. Had no problems at all. You may want to take a look at it.

It's funny you should say that! LOL When I went to Orlando in 2003 I stayed at the Enclave Suites!! We loved it but it gets some horrendous reviews these days I dunno if I'd wanna risk it! Still contemplating it though as like I said, we had no problems with it!

It certainly fits the bill :thumbsup2 Thanks :)

We stayed at the Fairfield Inn and Suites a few years ago and loved it. It was really new then, so very clean. Its down near the Wet and Wild end of I-Drive, and less than a two minute walk from I-Drive (its actually on a side road rather than right on I-Drive). It must be near the hotel mentioned above, as it was also right next door to the Pirate show!

It had loads of parking, free breakfast each day, and the rooms had fridges. The corridors were interiour.

Why not do a split stay onsite at both Disney and Universal like we are this year?

We both don't drive in Florida so we are going to do all things Disney in our first week whist staying at Saratoga Springs then everything else in our second week when we are staying at Portofino Bay at Universal.

:thumbsup2

Can I ask why I-Drive? I can understand why you want to keep the cost down, but as non-drivers, I wouldn't say that I-Drive is the best location given that you're likely to spend proportionately more time at Disney than the other parks put together. There are possibly some nicer/newer options near Lake Buena Vista.

I stayed at the Sheraton Studio City in 2005 (I think it's called the Four Points now or something like that, it's a big tower anyway can't miss it! ;)) We rented a fridge whilst there (not sure how much but not a lot) and the rooms are lovely, all internal corridors aswell :)
IMO I-drive is a good location for non drivers who don't want to do a split stay but do want to have easy access to a wide range of attractions not just WDW. US/IOA/SW/malls are all accessible by public transport, there are loads of restaurants within walking distance of hotels and many hotels do free shuttles to WDW or you can use the Lynx buses (not the most convenient way but certainly doable, there's always taxis aswell) LBV is good for WDW but possibly not for other Orlando attractions without a car.

we stayed in hawthorne suites universal, which is next to enclave suites that some one eles mentioned

it has a free bus to the parks, free breakfast, free drinks and light snacks in the evening and a free dinner 1 night a week, its not bang on i drive but a 2 min walk away so yu have the benefits without the hustle bustle

they have a seperate bedroom and a kitchen, with all the basics

im looking into going back there next year

I agree with Lizzybear....we have also stayed at the Four Points by Sheraton (formally Sheraton Studio City), it is a fab location for the Universal, Sea World parks. Also loads of restaurants and pubs within walking distance.

The hotel also has an i-ride stop straight outside which is the bus that takes you all around the area for next to nothing, I think u can get a 14 day pass for about $14!

The hotel is currently being renovated so should be really nice! Id go for this one if I didnt have a car and use the hotel shuttle bus for the parks!! The pool area is also nice with a bar at the side, ideal if you want a day doing nothing!! Also, another bonus is that Universal Studios and Islands of Adventure is well within walking distance and with City Walk for night life you will not have to worry about taxis etc!

Oh and one more thing, there is a really really good water park right opposite, literally across the road called Wet 'n' Wild, will take you about 2 mins and u will be in there!! :yay:

Thanks guys, I will certainly check them all out! There's just too many to choose from! I wish there was a website I could type in my recommendations and then it matches them hotel-wise, lol.

Have considered doing a split-stay but, it'll sound stupid, I don't think I could be "confined" to Disney for a week and then be somewhere else for the other week and think we shouldn't be travelling to Disney coz we'd already stayed there or vice-versa with Universal. Not completely ruling it out though!

OH doesn't even want to do Disney, I just feel I can't do Orlando without it, lol. I know Disney is much bigger compared to Universal park-wise but I see us popping in/out of Universal much more. Plus I think we'd spend more time at CityWalk rather than DTD.
