We are looking to rent an ECV for our stay in December. Have not had any recent experience with the 5 preferred companies DW uses. Any recent experiences/recommendations? I know several companies we have rented from previously had OLD ecvs that broke down.....looking for a reputable company. Thx

If you look at the disAbilities FAQ sticky at the top of this forum, you will find notes of which vendors DISers have experience.

We like Apple Scooters and have used them several times for my mom. Never had a problem. In fact we have one reserved for our Dec trip.

I used Apple scooters for the first time the past three days. It was not a good experience. The ecv was at bell services at the Poly when I arrived, which was great. Unfortunately it started to malfunction within a couple of hours and died completely on the monorail on our way back to the resort. My husband had to disengage it and push me off the monorail and into the resort. I called right then, at 10:45 PM, the recording said their hours were until 11PM, yet they were already not answering. I left a message. Early the next morning, they called and said they'd replace it immediately. Well 4 hours later I was furious and still waiting! :furious: Finally got a new ecv, which thankfully worked for the rest of my stay, but losing half a day of my 2 1/2 day stay was really unacceptable. The ecv they replaced it with had a broken handle also, but they said it was the only one they had!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'll never rent from them again.

I'm an Apple fan myself. We have rented from them for over 10 years and we have not had any bad experiences. We are renting two scooters in December from them. We usually rent for a week or more.

I will say for a shorter stay like three days there is some consideration of renting from the park instead even if it costs more. Then, if something happens and goes wrong you have a Disney cast member to help replace it in a hurry. We actually had a problem once with a Disney scooter and even though we got immediate help it still took like 75 minutes before we got a replacement. This was many years ago. The cast member had to walk the scooter back and get another one. Also, with a Disney scooter rental you don't have to worry about charging it and so forth.

When I went in 2011 and 2012 as a traveling companion tot a senior lady, we used Apple scooter and had very good experiences.

When I needed a wc for me in April, I used Walker Mobility and again, a very good experience.

Please read about my disaster with Apple. They are a horrible company. I plan to spread the word so others don't go through what we did.
