Recipe for Pillsbury crescent rolls?

LOL, y'all are cracking me up. I thought Pigss-in-a blanket were All American like hot dogs.

The are often made a parties and potluck dinners.

I used any hot dog that is on sale....buy one, get one. The I use Pillsbury cresent rolls.....Walmart everyday low prices plus coupons.

I cut the hot dogs into 4's and the cresent rolls into 4's also. The I wrap a dog in the roll, cook for 11 minutes or so and voila.....a quick easy dinner or snack.

Sometime we make bigger ones using a whole hot dog and wrapping a Pillsbury breadstick around the whole dog. Quicker and just as easy.

Have fun. They are a big hit with kids and adult love them as "flashbacks"

I make homemade croissants several times a year. Regular croissants seem to be much flashier than crescent rolls and taste different too.

Well, shiver me timbers...I stand corrected. Never really thought about the two being different. Now I have something new to try!:cool1:

Oh ya, crescent rolls are totally different from croissants, totally different. I wouldn't make crescents at home (too $$$) but I'd make croissants, homemade croissants are amazing!!!!!! :)

Pigs in a blanket are sausages in pancakes, hot dogs in crescents are weiner wraps. :) Again, totally different animals. lol

OP watch for coupons and sales, I've also seen them at Costco (as a pp said) but not every time I go. We love crescent rolls here, we'd eat them 5 nights a week if we could. :)

I LOVE fresh croissants! When I lived in Texas I went to a restaurant in Dallas called La Madelaine. The croissants were amazing. The only ones I have found similar are made from scratch. I have tried a lot of commercially prepared and found none to be as flaky. They don't keep well either.

Since the dough for crescents is different, I wonder of they might just be easy to make?

T hePatisserie in France at Epcot has some good pastries too!

Here in PA we can get cans of the rolls pretty cheap - around $1 - when they are on sale. And there are ALWAYS coupons. So I would never try to make it myself.

But - I did want to share a cute idea with all you pigs-in-a-blanket/wiener-wrap lovers -

I made these for the kids at a Halloween party last year and everyone thought they were adorable and yummy. I am guessing you may be able to use some other sort of dough to make these as well.

Trader Joes frozen croissants are the closes thing I have ever found in a commercially made product and they make chocolate filled ones too!

We call them pigs in a blanket, too. ;)

Have you ever seen the mini sausages called lil' smokies? I cut the crescent rolls into strips then wrap teh lil' smokies in them. They are so yummy and great to serve at a party or if you have several kids eating. Just serve with a bowl of ketchup and one with mustard so people can spoon that onto their plates for dipping. :) I'm hungry now!

Some of the cute holiday inspired dishes are just way too complicated but this Mummy looks fairly quick and easy yet still edible. Thanks for the idea!

I'm originally from the NW and "Pigs in a blanket" are link breakfast sausages wrapped in pancakes... Hot dogs wrapped in dough (whatever kind) we would call "wiener wraps". :goodvibes Isn't it funny how the same things are called different depending on where you live. :)

Same here. Pigs in a blanket are sausage wrapped in pancakes.:thumbsup2

Try using kielbosa or polish sausage instead of hotdogs....Yummy!!! My brother calls them Hogs in a Blanket.

We've also cut up the crescent roll dough into strips and wrapped them around little smokies. Oh, so good!

"meatloaf Wellington" is really good too. Make a meatloaf and pop it out of the pan, wrap it (three sides) in crescent rolls and bake until brown.
