hi

had my digi cam ages but i have never been bothered to buy rechargeables. i always use duracell. i want now to buy some rechargeables but i do know they have to be stronger than your average batteries. any ideas what kind are good? what kind do you use? i want some that last. any links to some on the net where i can buy them?

Ok, if it's AA size we're talking here then you need to look at the mAh rating of the battery. The higher the rating then (theoretically!) the longer they should last between charges. This is something that's probably best measured in terms of the number of photos taken as opposed to the number of hours or days. The amount you use your zoom can be a factor too. That all said, I use Uniross 2000mAh rechargeables which are available virtually anywhere that sells batteries. B&Q and Argos are usually the cheapest. I bought the battery and charger pack in B&Q for £7.99 and the more powerful batteries at a Dixons in Glasgow airport for £9.99. Taken against the cost of buying Duracells every other week I think this is definitely the way to go. If you do go for it, it's always a good idea to have a spare set as backup, especially if you are somewhere that your pics are important and you want a lot of them!!

I use rechargeables for my digi camera;
i have a uniross battery charger NI-Cd & NI-MH it takes size AAA and AA .
i use AA and it costs 4.97 for a pack of 4.
i think the charger was around 10 pounds, all bought from ASDA.
I'll be taking this to florida with me.

The ones shown on the Amazon link are the same ones I use and at that price I would buy TWO!!!!! :teeth: :teeth: :teeth:

this may be a stupid question....do you use 220 electricity in the UK?....if so, are you sure that your recharging unit can be used in the states (where the electricity is 110)?....

I'm really not trying to confuse you - but have you seen this !!! It doesn't charge as quickly as the Sprint, but it does come with different plugs!

thanks keep these tips coming and ill get my dh to look over them with me tomorrow

NiMH Rechargeables are definitely the only battery to use in a digital camera. I got some Uniross ones for mine and they have been excellent. In fact I use rechargeables for almost everything at home now. Once you have a good charger you will probably never buy a duracell again. The only thing to look out for when using high capacity batteries is to make sure the charger you buy can do the job. The first time I got high capacity ones and used them in my existing charger I was impressed but then I realised that my original charger was in fact not fully charging the batteries as the safety timer was switching it off before it even half charged them. Take a look at www.batterylogic.co.uk if you are in the UK. I got the Sprint ultra fast charger (2300mAh batteries included) from them. It is small and light and can be used with any voltage anywhere in the world. It's a good site which is easy to use. They seem to always have the latest Uniross stuff at good prices and were very helpful when I needed some advice. Highly recommended.
