I went on a site visit yesterday and forgot my camera (oops ) so thanks so much!
I had a vision that doesn't exactly work with the area so now I'm trying to think of other ideas. For anyone who has had a reception there, what did you use for centerpieces? Was it over crowded? How many guests did you have?
I can help you in 2 weeks1 our reception is there in 2 weeks so I can post pics then. I have the same ones as above. We are having 76 guests and don't see it being overcrowded for that number. we were hvaing 104 at one point so that might have been tight.
what was your vision?
our centerpieces are small and low and simple. they are glass bowls filled with water - blue seaglass at teh bottom. floating in them will be blue hydrangeas. surrounding those will be 3 votives on the tables with clusters of roses and hydrangeas.
No problem, glad I could help! We were pretty much dead set on having our reception there, but we decided to go a completely different way...MGM! Its a beautiful place and it would have been perfect. For decorations and centerpieces, I think an underwater theme would go so well. Maybe like posted above..glass bowl filled with water, maybe with shells in the bottom and floating flowers. Or maybe go with a blue color scheme with low floral arrangements and place shells and votives around! You can do a lot..I wouldn't necessarily place high floral arrangements on the tables there, but you can certainly play around with it. There is enough room and I don't think it would have been crowded with our group (estimated at 80 or so). Its a beautiful area! What are some of the ideas you are having? Maybe some of us could help figure something out! There are truly endless possibilities! I never in the world thought that we would be able to do what we are doing, but Disney seems to be willing to work with anything!
This is what I was envisioning: a scheme of gold, brown, and beige...with trees in the middle of the tables with candles hanging off. I don't think it would match with the carpet and the low ceilings which bums me out I didn't really want too much of a sea theme. I wanted more of like "an elegant evening on a cruise ship" without much of the seashell stuff. My fiance suggested coral centerpeices with candles hanging off..but I don't know. I wanted everything really soft and candle lit... At this point I have no idea.
Maybe you could put one of those candle mirrors down and have a glass bowl filled with sand and candles on it. I know exactly what you mean about the theme because I want our reception at Living Seas but don't want seashells or starfish or coral stuff. Maybe you could even do flowers around the bowl? That would be nice, elegant, and low.
just a note - i do not think Epcot allows hanging candles in their venues, especially the Living Seas. The tables are really small (only 6 people at each) so anything too buig overpowers it all.
France would be beautiful.
But I say if you both want that location work with your planner to come up with ideas. We are not doing an ocean theme...yes blue but no seashells or anything. Good Luck
I have a brown/gold/ivory scheme. I'm not having a water theme but im also having the floating candle bowls. To be honest the tables are quite small and wouldn't suit a huge arrangement.
I have paid the scandlas price for linen (they will not cover the whole tables in white linen for free only the top linen) I have an ivory underskirt with the gold chiffon ontop and swagged. I am also paying the extra to cover the tables we are not using in just an ivory linen (I really dislike the linen in there!)
We have the low bowls with 3 floating candles and rose heads and petals around the bowls with votives. I also have chair covers with brown sashes and the gold charger plates.
We fell in love with the LS and made it work for us.
Can someone tell me what are the standard linens at LS, and do they offer a few options? The pics on the DFTW website only have the top tablecloth. The pics that RustyFlwr3 posted have undercloths (is that a word?) too.
I believe the standard linens for Epcot are white. Also, your Food and Beverage min includes ANY food and beverage that day as well as your cake. Trust me, if you have Illuminations dessert party and you do cake, the 5k is NOT hard to hit.
The standard tablecloths at the Living Seas are exactly as pictured in the picture. They are blue with some shimmer and a green overcloth. You can get the green cloth switched for white I believe, but if you want to switch the blue cloth they charge extra.
