Hi everyone,

I am planning a 2013 August Wishes wedding. We would love to use The Attic as our reception site, but it's looking like we might have too many guests for that to be an option. Does anyone have any idea on a similar site? We're looking for something bright and airy, preferably that we don't have to decorate a ton. I have looked at the Whitehall Room, which I don't hate, but it doesn't scream Disney to me. We are hoping for around 35-40 guests but are worried we are going to be closer to 50. Does anyone have any suggestions? Maybe a site I'm overlooking? Maybe even something really cool and Disney-ish that isn't so bright and airy? At this point, I'm willing to look into anything.

Thanks :worship:

Have you looked at Ariel's? I think it's a beautiful, light colored room with plenty of windows.

From the Whitehall room's patio, you can see the castle. The monorail also goes right by it. I'm not sure how much more Disney you can get! :)

You could always look into Atlantic Dance Hall. PP is right, Ariel's is also very pretty. There's the St James Room at the Boardwalk that looks different on the inside, but also has doors to a patio area like WH room does. I think it depends on what feels "Disney" to you. Everyone has their own definition of that, imo. What are you looking for? :scratchin

I LOVE the Whitehall Patio, but I'm not crazy about the inside. It just feels like a typical ballroom to me, which is where I am having a problem. Maybe I'll keep looking at photos and it will grow on me. I'll look at Ariel's some more too. Thanks :thumbsup2

I agree entirely with the suggestion for Ariel's! I think it's beautiful and would love to use it! From the photos I've seen it's spacious, has light colors, is decorated with a sea theme and the capacity I believe is 90 guests so perfect for you :thumbsup2

I completely understand what you mean about the Whitehall Room not feeling Disney for you, I feel the same which is why I strayed away from that type of reception venue. My reason for it not feeling Disney (despite the castle and monorail) was because it's a ballroom. From the inside, in my opinion, it could be anywhere and I didn't want to drag my guests to Florida and put them in a place I could rent back home.

Another suggestion I'd like to make is the California Grill. You can rent the Napa Room for up to 50 guests. I don't know if you've seen pictures but it has big, wide, glass windows that overlook the Magic Kingdom, with a particularly good view of Space Mountain. I don't think it needs much decoration because of the view. It will undergo refurb work from January 2013 but it's set to re-open "late summer 2013" so you might be able to use it for your wedding.

I liked the WH room in pictures, but when we walked into it for my site visit it took my breath away. I absolutely love it. It doesn't feel like a ballroom to me. I love the big, open windows, and I love love love the ceiling. It doesn't feel like you're trapped in a small, dark room with low ceilings like a ballroom does. That's just me though. I'm sure you'll find something perfect for you. :lovestruc

Oh, edited to add that you can always use the inside of Whitehall for food and have your reception outside on the patio. There are plenty of options!

The only catch with using Cali Grill (which may or may not be a big deal to you) is that you can only use their group menu, you can't use Disney's catered event menus. There's also no tasting offered and you have to use their existing seating. So it's not nearly as customizable as a catered event would be.
