I just spoke to my friend and for their wedding, she wants to have one or two games.
Since we won't have time to have a bridal shower for her, I was thinking of putting together one or two different games at her reception dinner. During this dinner, there will be people that are from here-(bride's family and friends), and people visiting-(the groom's family and friends). The bride and grooms side of the family does not know each other and for many of the people, they will meet each others family and friends for the first time.
So suggestions on games, prizes, and favors would be appreciated.
The age of the crowds will be people in their 20s-60s or 70s, with maybe a child or two.

I have never heard of having games at the reception, but i'm sure it would be fun. I would make sure that they are appropriate for the audience--kids and older adults might not appreciate racier stuff. And you wouldn't want people be uncomfortable, since they don't all know each other well. Hmmm,I'll have to think about this awhile...

Same here - I have never heard of anyone doing that.

Maybe you could ask the DJ? DJ's are usually great at party games.

Ive also never heard of doing games at a reception.. I would personally think it might make for awkward times..

I had gone to a friend's wedding where I had first seen this done at, and
my parents had gone to my cousin's wedding and they had a few games.
And actually for this wedding that I am taking about, the bride is the one who suggested it and wants it, so we are doing what she wants.

THis wasnt done at the wedding but at the rehersal dinner for some friends of ours. The had my DH make up some funny questions: who is the funniest? Who spends the most time getting ready in the morning? type of thing and then the bride and groom held up signs saying bride or groom. It was funny to see the reactions to the question and it also helped both sides of the new family learn about the couple.
