We own at BLT. Only 160- points. Thinking of purchasing more in January. I'd love to purchase at BCV. What is the current cost for this? Can I only buy it resale or can I purchase it through Disney direct? Our use year is Feb (which I hate and was a mistake for us!) Will we be stuck with an add on in the same year? If we buy a typical new "minimum" contract of 160 points, will it count as a whole new contract or as an add on? Is there a benefit to adding on vs buying a new contract?

And our reasoning for waiting until January is this

1) a couple of financial things might change in the Fall

2) There historically seems to be a decent incentive in January.

3) If we buy before end of Jan, we would get the 2010 points and then on Feb 1 get the 2011 points right? Assuming we'd have the same use year that we do currently.

I loved the pool and location at BCV. I think that once our youngest is a bit older, our favorite parks won't be so MK centered, and BCV is an easy walk to 2 parks.

Thanks for any help!

either. direct pricing is at http://dvcnews.com/index.php/dvc-program/financial/pricing-a-promotions or look at the resale listings above.

yep - addons must be for the same UY month.

a new contract of 160 pts allows you to pick a new UY month, but if you want to combine pts from your BLT and your BCV contract at 7 months to book a single night at a DVC resort, you would have to transfer pts to use the contracts together for that purpose.

if they have those pts available - yes. on some occasions, they don't have them (and in the past, some BCV owners have had to waitlist for several months until DVC picked up some ROFRs in their UY month...not sure if that's happened in the last couple of years, though.)

There aren't incentives offered by Disney at the sold out resorts. If you buy direct from Disney, you'll pay the current price whatever it is. We bought add ons a few years ago and I think it was $104. If you want a different UY and don't want the entire "new contract" amount, you will have to buy resale.

However, if you keep with February, and buy in January, you will get this years points, and will be able to bank them as a bonus. The problem with doing it so late in the UY is that, especially this has happened regarding add ons at BCV, is that it is possible there wouldn't be any February UY to sell you, and you wouldn't get the points until February or later. People have waited months to add on BCV points through Disney. However, this is from my experience from about 2 years ago. If this happens, you won't be getting the '10 UY points.

I'd keep an eye on the resales. You'd get to choose a new use year without having to do the whole 160 points if you really want. Also the prices will most likely be less than buying direct, but you may end up paying closing costs (depends on how you and the buyer negoiate it).

Thanks for the link! Loving it!

I will have to check out the resales but it scares me:) You know, trying to learn something new is always a challenge!

;) Disney has recently sold OKW direct for $90 point, 100 point contract---never hurts to ask if you could get that sort of deal.

I am an AKV owner and bought a small BCV contract. My plan is to bank and borrow to get there every 3rd year. Well, before we even made our first trip, I put an offer on a small resale (waiting for ROFR decision) which would allow us a BCV trip every other year. Now, I also just bought a small BLT contract to travel there every 3rd year. We'll see how long it takes me to add on another small BLT contract to get there every other year too! LOL

When I inquired about a BCV contract direct from Disney a few weeks ago, the price was $115/point.

Not sure if you HAVE to take the same UY, but it does make it so much easier if you do. I have a Dec UY and have kept all of my contracts that way (even the resale). At 7 months, I can combine them all if I like without having to transfer from one contract to another.

Good luck!

I highly recommend The Timeshare Store! We bought BCV from them a couple years ago... added on at BLT last year through Disney & are currently in the closing process on a SSR Add-on through The Timeshare Store. "Magic Vacation Title" handles the closing... they are great too. Contact The Timeshare Store and tell they what you are looking for. They also have great info on their site about purchasing resale.
Good Luck!

If my home resort is OKW and I want to do an add on of 50 points, can I only add on a t OKW or can I add on at another DVC but with the same use year of September.

You can add on any resort you would like. If you go through Disney, it will be the same Sept UY.

You can buy a new contract with any UY through resale, but it would be considered a new membership, with its own membership number. When this happens, you can not combine the points from both your contracts for a single night reservation without doing a transfer.

When you own the same UY, regardless of the resort, the points can be combined as one once you hit the 7 month booking window.

IMO, finding contracts with the same UY is easier to manage.

It doesn't hurt to ask but very unlikely DVC will agree to let BCV go for $90 directly purchasing from them now or in near future given its popularity and small size compared to other DVC resorts; and too, bringing it down to $90 would likely impact pricing of VWL & BWV.

:)

:) I figured that kinda deal was only for a short time and limited.....but one can dream :cloud9:
