Recently returned-some observations (Long, sorry!!)

Hmmm. We're doing R&C on NYE. 10:00 reservation with NYE fireworks due to start at 11:40. So I'm interested to hear more about the people who were in the viewing area who weren't eating? Do you mean out on the patio? Or in the "special" R&C viewing area? If there's any night people would try to be where they weren't supposed to be, I'd imagine it'd be NYE! :)

It was really hot that day and we were given the choice of outside way back by the entrance or inside. We chose inside since they assured us we could go to the special viewing area. You had to be eating there to get in, but apparently the CMs weren't checking because there was a family literally sprawled out on the ground with all of their counter service food taking up most of the space. It was a really small space to begin with, so this just didn't cut it for me. I definitely think people will try to get in there on NYE so if you want the Illuminations experience, I'd wait for a table on the patio with a view.

Hello,
I am looking for a current menu for Tutto Italia for both lunch & dinner.
I had read on here the menu had changed from what is posted on AllEars.
I tried the search feature, and found your report.
Do you have a pic of the menu from your visit, and can you look at the AllEars menu and tell us how it compares to what you saw, please?
Did you have lunch or dinner there?

We went for dinner. I noticed that several things we ordered are not on that menu. It is much more extensive than the Disney run restaurants. My mom and so n both had a stuffed pork chop with prosciutto and cheese...I don't see it listed. The basics are there, but it just looks like it's abbreviated. You will definitely be able to find something, even if you don't like true Italian. And consider those meatballs. I truly will order them as an entree next time with a side of pasta...no joke!!!:worship:

Great review!
It will be just my DGD (8)and I for our upcoming trip and we will be doing a lot of Character meals. I hope I am not making a mistake by doing so. We have loved Chef Mickey's and Crystal Palace and I hope we won't be disappointed this trip. We will be visiting the Garden Grill for the first time. I was a little worried about it but you have eased my mind. :goodvibes

If you have been before, you will still like the character meals. I just appreciate the small size of Garden Grill since the characters actually took time with us. Mickey was so rushed at Tusker House that he opened my kids' autograph books to a random page and signed, not even waiting for me to focus my camera. I swear I saw his little mouse hand gesturing impatience... It left me cold.

Now that my boys are older, the sheer magic of seeing a character in a suit isn't enough. They want to feel young again for just a minute by acting like a kid, playing with the characters. For most kids that don't go alot and of your granddaughter's age, they will enjoy them all. Just really enjoy Garden Grill!!!

10) The best meal, from start to finish, was definitely Tutto Italia. Everyone loved everything we ate there, the servers were great and the host was wonderful. We had gotten word that morning that my grandfather was dying and mom would have to leave the trip early to go to him before it was too late. DH had told the host mom and I had had a rough day so he went out of his way to cheer us up.
All of the food was good there, but the meatball appetizer may be the best thing I have ever eaten anywhere. There were so many of them that I couldn't eat my entree! Everyone enjoyed everything they had from the short ribs to alfredo to a stuffed pork chop. Desserts were great too. We went to Tutto for me, but I converted the whole family!

Thanks for sharing your report! Lots of detailed info!! I'm so sorry about your grandfather.

Does Tutto have alfredo now? Since the original Alfredos closed I didn't think you could find it anywhere.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts!

We've come to the same conclusion, unfortunately, about the breakfasts. :sad2:

I completely agree with you about Liberty Tree Tavern and Les Chefs de France. Both were wonderful when we went. I particularly like the fixed menu at Les Chefs.

You definitely made me want to check out Garden Grill. I'll have to try to get reservations the next time we go! :goodvibes

I really enjoyed reading your insights about your experiences with Disney Dining. They were so honest, yet postive.

I agree with your evaluation of Tutto's. We have never had a bad meal there and always receive stellar service. I'm also excited about your recommendation of lunch at Les Chefs. We went there for dinner a couple of years ago and were underwhelmed. But we are giving lunch another go here in a couple of weeks.

I had to laugh to myself when you said you would never book meals in the hopes of gettting good viewing for the nighttime shows. I have had this same experience. It never quite works out right even though I had such good intentions. However I would try Rose and Crown again for Illuminations. We have been pretty lucky with that one.

Tutto has alfredo sauce, and it is great and appropriately rich, but it may be only on the kids menu. My DS 9 had that. I'm sure you could get it though. Everything was very good, even the non-traditionally Italian offerings.

Man, I want some of those meatballs right now!!:lmao:

Thanks for the detailed response! From what I've heard you can be close to the lobby/parking at AKL, or you can have a great view, but rarely both. We paid for a standard room so we are prepared to get whatever we get.

O and we have 2 sig. Dinners planned along with CRT and HDDR, so that will take care of a lot of our credits on a 5 night stay.

I was with you until your review for Ohana...I go there just for the salad and dessert!! YUM! I also disliked Liberty Tree Tavern. We are trying Les Chefs de France next visit and I cannot wait!

Thank you for your review.

I think that the regular dining plan is a lot of food so I can't imagine doing the deluxe!

The last 2 trips we have done the breakfast at Ohana (which we liked). Next years trip I have been seriously looking at the Garden Grill for dinner so I was happy to see your review here. It will definitely be on the top of our list.

:wizard: Great report! I'm curious about the menu at Tutto...we have an ADR for it and have been considering changing it because of the new limited menu. Did you go before the menu change? Are there specials each day? The new menu that is posted seems really sparse without too many options...our other option might be changing to Chefs de France. We aren't beef eaters...

If you do change I highly recommend Teppan Edo. They have shrimp, chicken and scallops to die for seeing as you aren't beef fans. We are a couple that tried Tutto twice and both times found our food dismal at best.

at Teppan Edo this June. My family had combinations of shrimp and chicken. I had the combo and both the shrimp and chicken were well cooked. I didn't think to try the scallops.

Scallops are so rich for me that I don't often have 'em but this is one place where it's always hard to pass up. LOL
Also Teppan Edo used to have kobe beef on the menu and WOW do I miss that menu item...bummed they don't offer it anymore! (of course this was back when the restaurant was called Teppanyaki)

Now, back to the OP and her great review! :)
