Recent towncar/limo company experiences??

I used Quicksilver in May, and my experience was ok. They were right on time picking us up at the airport, and very early picking us up for the ride to the airport. A bit too early, as we were outside waiting 30 minutes before the scheduled pick up time, and they had already been by once looking for us. The things that bothered me were that the first vehicle had a dashboard that didn't work (according to my nephew who sat up from the speedometer and the gas gauge weren't working) and the second driver didn't speak English. Nothing huge, but enough that I have booked with FL Tours for my trip in October. I used them a few years back, and their service was impeccable.

I've used them twice. First time was to get over to US/IoA....they were late picking us up. Second time was a ride back to MCO from the Dolphin. I sat outside, waiting for them. A car drove up, no markings, and the driver got out and said "Let's go, time to head to the airport''. Well...I'm most assuredly not getting into a car with no markings and a driver who hasn't identified himself. I asked him who he was looking for. His response? You mam. This went on for a few minutes. He finally gave up, went back to his car, got out a clipboard, told me my name, and the company he was with. I didn't find it particularly humorous. Won't ever use them again.
This company was also banned from mention here on the DIS. Since the changes with the boards happened, those filters are no longer up. The banning had nothing to do with service, but with some egregious behaviour here on the boards. They had employees come here, posting as happy customers to drum up business. They also asked real customers to come back to the DIS and give them a good review.
I now use only Fl Tours, a board sponsor. Yes, they had issues years ago. But, those issues have been taken care of, management changed. All is great now!!!

Thanks so much for the replies!! Truly appreciated!

maxiesmom, was it a town car or limo with the broken dashboard? Not that it really matters because a non-working speedometer and gas guage doesn't reflect a feeling ofsecurity! And neither does a non-English speaking driver.

goofy4tink, you're talking about Quicksilver, correct?

That is who we are currently booked with. We've always used TiffanyTowncar in the past, but I had read a good review about QS so decided to give them a try. Two of two DISers have had negative experiences with them - It's definitely time to change my reservation!

I could try FL Tours or go back to TiffanyTowncar. :scratchin

Anyone else with a review of their towncar/limo service??

We used Tiffany for MCO - US and return in December and MCO-WDW and return in January. excellent service both times. the cars were very nice. On time service.

We always use FLTours and they are fantastic! The drivers are great and very sociable. On our trip in 2012 we had a delay in ATL and they called us to let us know that they were aware of it and would be waiting when we arrived to MCO! On our trip last Autumn, we opted for the 30 min grocery stop on the way to SSR and the driver stopped at Publix. We always use the towncars since it is only 2 of us and the cars are very nice and they are always prompt. On the last trip in Sept, we did a split stay and they were promptly at AKL 2 hrs before our flight to pick us up. Just make sure you tip each driver separately since you may have a different driver on your return trip. I have nothing but great things to say about them and would recommend them to anyone! If you have any questions feel free to PM me.

They picked us up in a Cadillac SUV and the ride back was in a town car. I tried asking that driver about how dry it was and his reply was No English. He knew enough to get around and get us to the right terminal, but not enough for small talk. The only reason I had gone with Quicksilver was that they were the only ones who would do a really late night grocery stop.

Yes, that was with Quicksilver. There is an internet group that is sponsored by QS....I can't remember who it is though. It's not AllEars or us...could be PassPorter. I try to give everyone two shots....if both those shots are less than wonderful, then I move on to another company. I always had good service with Tiffany...had one less than chatty driver but that's not a bad thing. He was much more cheerful on the ride back, so he could have had some issue earlier. FL Tours has been good to deal with in the past few years...so, that's who I've used. I've also used Ed Korgan, but Ed seems to be cutting back a bit. I believe he hands off the people he can't accommodate to Tony Hinds, but I could be wrong.

We've used Tiffany Towncar for every trip since 2009 when we stopped using the magical express. We've always had great luck and have been very happy with them. We are booked with them for two upcoming trips. We don't use the grocery stop so I can't comment on that.

We used Happy Limo for the first time in July. Pick up from the airport was ok. We had to wait on the driver but when he arrived he was friendly and helpful.
The return was bad. The driver was texting and checking his phone. He also told annoying riddles the whole way. I wont use them again.

OP here :wave2:

Wanted to update!

We cancelled with Quicksilver and booked with Tifffanytowncar.

To Quicksilver's credit, when I cancelled, their confirmation email stated that you need to CALL in order to cancel and receive a "cancellation confirmation number" which would be proof that we cancelled. I called the number and got voice mail, and left a message. Within 15 minutes the owner called me back and was very pleasant when I told him that I was cancelling. He said that he was at the garage and not in the office, so he told me to send an email requesting the cancellation, and to put that I had spoken to him on the phone. He stressed to me to make sure that I got a reply email containing a cancellation number. He did this all very pleasantly, and showed concern about making sure that I got that cancellation number. The next morning I received an email with the confirmation number. So as far as booking and cancelling goes, I had no issues at all... for what that's worth. :)

I called Tiffanytowncar and made my new reservation. We are flying in the evening before and staying at a hotel near the airport, so I wanted to make sure that it was noted which specific hotel we wanted to be picked up at, and at what specific time. I spoke to Maritza (sp?) and although she was straightforward, she was still very pleasant. I had read online reviews that called her some nasty names, but she was very pleasant to speak with. She asked me a few times if we wanted the free grocery stop and I told her "no thank you". I asked some specific questions about whether my rolling walker would fit with the 2 of us, 2 large pieces of luggage, plus carry-ons and laptop and personal items. She asked me a few questions and together we determined that it would fit in the trunk of the towncar, along with our luggage.

When I respectfully explained that I would like a driver who understands and speaks English, she told me that all of their drivers speak English. I have hearing loss so I just wanted to make sure.

Anyway, thanks so much to everyone who shared their experiences. They were very helpful, and much appreciated. :sunny:
