We arrived at Port Canaveral on Monday and were given the rapid test in the parking garage (the tent was not available for some reason) we were told to go ahead and park and wait for emails. About 20 minutes later, my husband received a phone call telling him to go back to the first floor and retest because the test was inconclusive". He did a PCR test and came back to wait. about 20-30 minutes later, he got a phone call saying to drive on down and park in a certain spot and wait for the doctor and cruise rep. The eventually came out and told us that he tested positive. We contemplated leaving him on the dock and going without him but that is not allowed.
We were asked to decide on the spot if we wanted a refund or a credit to rebook. she said that we could change our mind also we opted to re-book. We were given a letter explaining that we will receive a letter about 5-7 days after our ship returns to port. We asked but were given no information about details such as - what if the new cruise is not the same cost? or how long do we have to use the credit?
We had to wait well over an hour for our luggage. We were handed four bottles of water and four granola bars for the wait. They were very sweet but we were basically on our own. Luckily we drove so it was as easy as driving 14 hours back home (sarcasm).
When I go to the cruise website to look, my current reservation has already disappeared. I am anxious to get my letter so that I can re-book before the handicapped rooms get filled for our next cruise.
BTW, DH tested positive via rapid test once we got back home the rest of the family is still testing negative. DH was asymptomatic but now has very mild cold like or allergy symptoms.
