Recent Reports of Positive Tests at the Ports

I think like everyone else, I find it so stressful waiting for the test results at the port. It's especially stressful now that more people are testing positive and are asymptomatic. Our last two cruises the amount who tested positive and unable to sail seemed high. Cruising again next week and wondering if anyone has seen recent reports.

When we sailed last week, watching the TVs scroll the reservation numbers, we didn't see a single one that wasn't negative and directed to the terminal. Now, we only watched for less than 20 minutes...so not much of a sample size.

I don’t think DCL would release this info but I would bet a lot fewer people are being denied boarding now that they have switched to antigen and now that they do a PCR if your antigen is positive rather than just denying boarding. Good luck!

Were these DCL cruises? I know Princess has had outbreaks as our neighbor and his wife caught
Covid on a recent cruise with them. We just spent a week on Fantasy and a few days at WDW.
I brought a bunch of self tests with us. Ironically I never felt the need to use one until the last
day at WDW when my husband started cold symptoms. He tested negative before we left and
took a PCR when we got home and still negative.

I cruise on Friday, I'm very nervious about this, and what happens next if you do test positive. I know you will be denied boarding, but then what? Are you just left to your own devices at the port?

I'm coming from the UK, I'm flying to the US for my trip tomorrow I have got my fingers and toes crossed!

Pretty much, yes. I've seen various reports of back-up plans including VRBO and rental cars. I strongly suggest that anyone traveling at this time have good travel insurance which will cover the unexpected change in plans.

Eventually they're going to stop testing asymptomatic guests, and this stress about boarding will be just one more memory of the past two terrible years.
I am more nervous about being testing positive a couple days before arriving

Let's remember to keep this thread on topic and follow the Covid posting policy...

"No statistics about infection rates".

The OP is asking for information on what people have seen at the port. Not at home or across the country. Thanks for your cooperation! :)

We were on the 3/30 Wonder sailing, and had a similar experience (although, we ended up having to wait for about 35 minutes for whatever reason). Not a single positive result on the monitors up until we boarded.

We will PCR test a few days before we leave and also try to use mitigation measures as much as possible prior to the cruise (although it's my daughter's high school graduation the week before, which is a huge covid wildcard).

We arrived at Port Canaveral on Monday and were given the rapid test in the parking garage (the tent was not available for some reason) we were told to go ahead and park and wait for emails. About 20 minutes later, my husband received a phone call telling him to go back to the first floor and retest because the test was inconclusive". He did a PCR test and came back to wait. about 20-30 minutes later, he got a phone call saying to drive on down and park in a certain spot and wait for the doctor and cruise rep. The eventually came out and told us that he tested positive. We contemplated leaving him on the dock and going without him but that is not allowed.

We were asked to decide on the spot if we wanted a refund or a credit to rebook. she said that we could change our mind also we opted to re-book. We were given a letter explaining that we will receive a letter about 5-7 days after our ship returns to port. We asked but were given no information about details such as - what if the new cruise is not the same cost? or how long do we have to use the credit?

We had to wait well over an hour for our luggage. We were handed four bottles of water and four granola bars for the wait. They were very sweet but we were basically on our own. Luckily we drove so it was as easy as driving 14 hours back home (sarcasm).

When I go to the cruise website to look, my current reservation has already disappeared. I am anxious to get my letter so that I can re-book before the handicapped rooms get filled for our next cruise.

BTW, DH tested positive via rapid test once we got back home the rest of the family is still testing negative. DH was asymptomatic but now has very mild cold like or allergy symptoms.

Did they mention how you are refunded for parking?

In February when this happened to us they gave a card with number on it to call for parking refund. I had to leave a message but they called back the next day and took care of it.

So sorry, your DH test positive. Not fun.

I told my DH that we will wing it in September if one of us test positive and find something to do in Florida for 3 days. We have 3 night s booked post cruise at the Polynesian DVC. 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻That maybe by late September, testing is no longer needed.
We may be driving down from NJ, so I am not driving back and canceling my stay at the Poly.
Here to a healthy brighter future for all of us. To better days ahead.😎👍🏻

I am very worried that one of us will test positive. We are traveling with an under 5 and a 10-year-old. My 10-year-old is vaccinated, but my son is not old enough to be vaccinated. They will both be in summer camps and will be with kids all day every day. We plan to do PCRs a few days before traveling plus my son will have an additional PCR 24-72 hours prior, since we are traveling 4 days prior to stay with my sister-in-law in Miami. We do have a backup plan, which is to go to my in-law's empty condo in Florida for the week if one of us is positive, but my kids will be incredibly disappointed.

I wonder if their definition of inconclusive on a rapid test means the positive line is very faint and they’re not sure if it’s there or not.
