Is Guardians Running on 1 Elevator?

Because its causing long lines and making LL less worth it and DCA needs more things to do not less

Rides have to go down, and its the slow/off season with cheaper tickets to get people in the door.

But this has been going on for over a year and unlike say Casey Jr where they can work on a car off the parks, here they need the ride down to fix it correctly.

Rise just went down and I didn't see anyone really complaining because rides need to go down before they get too bad of shape

If this is a problem after Monster Inc leaves and it will be getting to the busy seasons then...boy does that suck even worst

Yet you are suggesting taking down a ride COMPLETELY vs reduced capacity. From what I understand of the work they are doing, taking the ride down completely would not get the work down quicker. So, as an example, it takes a month to repair the one elevator shaft, so run at reduced capacity for 3 months or take the ride down completely for 3 months. Reduced capacity make more sense to me.

I have no problem with a ride going down for refurb, as I understand maintenance is necessary. But running reduced capacity makes more sense then taking it down completely.

I mean you just said if it down for month we can re opened it with everything working

So that saves time

To each his own but I rather it just go down and get fixed over this endless period where they can't have it all fixed because the ride is running

They have a period of time right now which is perfect to take it down and wont, so if the issue is still there once Monsters Inc close's then it will affect the park much more then now

I'm all for rides going down to fix major issues like this and WDW has had big thunder closes for a year, its how it goes, rides need to go down and Disney could also open the Hyperion Theater to help with this along with doing shows in the day time in front of the WOC area (they used to have the lion king and other musical shows here)

No I said it would be down for THREE months. One month per elevator. If they can only work on one elevator at a time at a month per elevator that is a total of 3 months. They can run on a reduced capacity for those 3 months or shut the entire ride down for those 3 months. Which makes more sense from a capacity standpoint? Obviously it would be to keep it running with 2 elevators, right?

But the wait times have been insane. I agree with others ... there just isn't enough to absorb people in DCA right now
100% Disney finally woke up to this reality and are pouring all of their resources into expanding DCA. We have 2 new Avengers rides coming online in the next couple of years. We'll have the new Coco ride eventually. Then we'll have Avatar further down the road.

I REALLY wish there was a way for them to keep Monsters Inc open. The park desperately needs kid friendly rides (and all the rides possible).

In the meantime, they should put a show back into the Hyperion. That could soak up a few thousand people per hour. No parades and very limited entertainment, plus limited ride capacity. A very bad combo.

We were there on Saturday and they announced that only one of the three lifts was running. We waited close to a half hour with LL, so I can't imagine what it would have been standby. It probably didn't help that the park was a bit extra crowded with the anniversary celebrations.
We rode it on Friday. Got in line around 11:15 am and waited about 70 minutes. I think that ties the record for longest line my kids have ever waited in.

This morning, I realized that the LL plan I had in my mind for Guardians is not going to work. I was planning to rope drop DL, book LL for Guardians, then modify until the return time is 11 am, so I could hop and ride. But, that isn't going to work because I won't be able to book before 11am if I'm in DL? Am I correct about that?

I hate to waste precious LL booking time in the morning by not booking something to modify, but on the specific day I'm thinking of, DCA closes at 5pm, so I suspect LL will go extremely fast that morning anyway.

This is sadly correct

I just know the last time I went which was a normal Saturday with no huge lines or anything and it was no available all day after 11 AM. You need to check at 11 AM and hopefully you can get one but if its closes at 5....seems very hard to do.

But I will say this....DCA rope dropping is a waste unless your a MK holder. You will get wayyyyyyy less rides done at DCA then Disneyland because they have so many that get HUGE lines after rope drop....Toy Story, GOTG, Racers and sometimes even the coaster all get 60-90 mins waits very quickly in the day....

While Disneyland....sure some of the E tickets are packed but most rides like Mickey and Minnies, Tia's Bayou, Pirates and normal HM take hours before they get insane lines most days

Hang on, I thought that as soon as the return time is 11 am or later, I would be able to book the opposite park, as long as I have a parkhopper? Am I wrong about that?

You can do it but when I went 2 weeks ago it was unavailable all day after 11 AM and the park closed at 10 PM

Just to clarify, Cal-Pie is correct. You can book a lightning lane in the opposite park at any time after you scan into your first park, as long as the RETURN time is after the time you'll be able to hop (currently 11am). So in your case, if getting on Guardians is a priority, I would keep a very close eye on Guardians return times from the moment you enter DL for rope drop, being prepared to cancel anything you've booked in DL if necessary. As soon as you see a return after 11am, book it. If necessary, you can modify it from there to a later time if available. My guess is you might even be in the window to book by 9am depending on how busy a day it is.

FWIW, I think you're right that they'll likely book up very quickly for the whole day, given limited inventory and early close. When I was there a few weeks ago, we were planning on staying in DL until the late parade, so we arrived at DCA around 9am rather than rope drop. Our LL priorities were Soarin (it was the day after the return of Soarin Over CA) and Guardians, before park hopping to DL around 4 or 5. We'd been watching the app from the tram and noticed that both were booking fast- with return times for both already getting into the early evening. When we entered, I went to book our first LL and noticed one pop up for Soarin with an immediate return time, so we grabbed it and rode. When we went to book for Guardians next, it was already an 8pm return, but we grabbed it and were able to modify (with about 15 straight minutes refreshing) for the early afternoon.

In general, it's easier to experience attractions in DL because there are far more things to do. I find myself booking more LL at DCA because Guardians, Soarin', Incredicoaster all sell out very fast. I agree, book Guardians early and then modify (never cancel) to a time that works for you. Even if it sells out, it's never actually gone. If you are willing to spend a solid 10 minutes refreshing, you will find LL open up for Guardians after it sells out. Once you have it, you can work on modifying it to a time that works for you.
