Recent reports of dining plan kinks with a segmented reservation?

I may be wrong but I think the mug is good for your "length of stay". Which may be governed by resort, reservation or on contiguios vacation stay on property. Disney has never made a formal statment as to what "length of stay" really means now.

I wish they would.

Yes that would make it easier - I guess when the mugs were resort specific you could assume it was only for use in that one hotel - but now with only one design it makes it less clear whether you can transport them between resorts. We always do split stays so it will be great if it is allowed and continues to be so :thumbsup2

We appreciate your interest in a DISNEY VACATION CLUB Resort. When you
segment a reservation, there is a chance that you may have to change
rooms. We cannot guarantee that you will remain in the same room for
the entire time. It will be up to the Front Desk to keep you in the
same room for your stay.

:(

If they can't insure we will be kept in the same room then I guess that ends my plans of DXDP for 1 night:guilty: - I can't travel all that way and have to move two families of four after one night - or even worry that it is a possibility - what a shame:sad2:

I am taking my girls and two of their friends to BLT for five days in August. I am wanting to add DX dinng for two days and DDP for three. Will I have to get new cards if there isn't a break in between?

TIA

Thank you for posting.
I don't understand how this is different than before, if you still risk having to change rooms. What's the point of the travel plan?:confused3

I don't know. Rather sad about it.:sad2:

Perhaps I will call 2 weeks before check-in & see if it could be noted on our reservation.

Any other ideas?

Members have gotten 2 completly different responses to the staying in the same room question, the most common now is that you will not have to move now with a segmented reservation but sometimes the old information is still sent out as shown by the post above. Even in the old days when they were true seperate reservations the cases where members had to move were so rare that I could count then on one hand the times members have posted about it

When we segmented our reservation MS informed us that we would not need to change room. Hope this is true as dont want the hassle of leaving at 11:00am and having to recheck in at 4:00pm

We were told the same thing in terms of moving rooms.

Our segmented stay last week at BWV we did NOT need to get new cards, nor did we need to change rooms. However, if you read one of my previous posts, the credits when we went onto a plan were not "active" until 11 am; therefore making breakfast ADRs a bit of a hassle.

We are now at BLT, we'll see how it goes. We have the DxDDP tomorrow, I'll report back if we get the same pattern as we did at BWV.

Much more hassle at BLT...they gave new keys, unlike BWV, and it is a mess. I'll explain more later when I'm not typing on my phone. :goodvibes

VERY curious.. I am doing this in AUG. an 8:15 Chef Mickey day before no DP.. then DDP..

That's where I stayed in Dec 2010 for 3 nights with QSDP on 2nd night. Hope things get better.

I'm back! :goodvibes

Okay, so on the 5th when we checked in to BLT the CM I worked with seemed very confused by the "DVC Multiple Dining Plan", but he checked us in - and said we would need new keys on the 8th when we went on plan.

No prob. This is what they said at the BWV too, and we didn't...

It's the 8th today. We go down to get keys before our Chef Mickey's breakfast ADR and the CM is completely baffled about the DVC Multiple Dining Plan. Another CM helps. A manager comes out. She's confused.

They review, go in the back, come back out...and cut us new cards.

We go to Chef Mickey's and the credits work, no problem.

We go up to our room, keys still work. AND we DID get our Towel & Trash. :thumbsup2

Down to rent a sea raycer, back to our room about 45 minutes later - around 12:45 and the keys work on the outside door to get into the building but NOT on our room. :confused3

Back to the front desk, they are baffled. Apparently the keys should work fine, so they call a guy to reprogram our door. He comes within 5 minutes and goes with me, reprograms the door and since then we haven't had issues.

Tonight we have a dinner ADR. If something goes awry with that, I'll report back. I'll update again on how the keys work through the rest of our stay too.

It seems odd that BLT and BWV did things completely differently. And I don't know if our door truly needed reprogramming OR if it was due to the dining plan.

It's been a tad bit annoying dealing with it all. BWV handled it all much better than BLT so far, IMO. It seems like the CMs here have never even heard of the DVC Multiple Dining Plan. I think it's also a bigger hassle because the front desk is in another building, so it's more to get there and back.

It seems that if you get new keys the credits work right away when they cut the keys because they have "checked you in". If they don't cut you new keys, the credits aren't active until 11 am and you would have to reverse any charges that you might do.

At both the BWV and BLT changing rooms wasn't even brought up. Both front desks specifically said, "You will be in the same room through <date>". :thumbsup2

Thanks for sharing the experience. I think that the CM's are so confused is because this is new. We have never had the ability to book segmented trips with different plans.

It is interesting on how things work. But, if getting new keys tends to make the plan work better, than that is okay with me (of course, don't want to be locked out of the room either!).

Enjoy the rest of your stay.

I do agree that the CMs are confused because this is "new". However, it has been around since December/January time-frame, so it's not that new, in my opinion. Being from a customer service background I do find it irritating that there is so often breaks in communication at Disney. As we all well know, there are so many inconsistent messages from CMs, it's frustrating. Proper and current training seems to lack when there is a change in process for one reason or another. I understand it's a massive company, but there has got to be a way to improve this. It does directly impact guest experience.

I'm also a tougher customer due to my customer experience background! ;)

However, regardless, it's all much more positive than negative still. And I'll be back. Again, and again! Already dreading our last day that is rapidly approaching.

I actually found the not getting new keys at BWV an easier process. I liked it when our credits just weren't active until 11 am. That would only require me to go to the desk once to reverse the charges - and ONLY if we used them for breakfast.

I'm a bit nervous about tomorrow...tonight at our Teppan Edo ADR the CM mentioned that it looked like we had already checked-out. Our credits should still be good through tomorrow. We'll see how this goes. I'll keep reporting back! :goodvibes

Quick question:

We are staying at AKV this fall for 2 nights. If I purchase the Deluxe Dining Plan for day 1 of our stay, but not day 2, will I be able to spread my credits over those two days since they won't expire until midnight of the day I'm checking out?

October 13th: deluxe plan, and we want to use 1 table service
October 14th: no plan, and we want to use 2 table services

Will this work?

And, I know this is answered elsewhere, but I can't seem to find it: how much is the DxDP for DVC members? I need to add it onto my reservation soon and need to know the exact cost.

One More Question: When exactly will my credits expire? I will be staying 2 nights at AKV but will only have the DxDP for night one...Do my credits expire at midnight the day I check OUT of AKV, or at midnight the day after I first use the plan? I was just trying to figure out whether I could do 1 TS on 10/13, 1 TS on 10/14 and 1 TS on 10/15, since we are staying at AKV both nights, but if the credits expire at midnight on the 14th, we'd have to use 2 TS credits either on 10/13 or 10/14. I hope I am making sense!!

Thanks.

Yes, that is how it works. Your credits are valid from time of check in to midnight on your check out day or segment.

Update time! :goodvibes

As you know we had the DxDDP yesterday, so our credits expire tonight. We have had ZERO issues so far today.

Last night I picked up our mugs, no problem. Today we used up 5 of our 6 snacks - again, no issues. Keys work in the doors.

Tonight we have Kona ADR and have to use 1 snack, I don't anticipate any problems since today has been smooth sailing.

My plan is to keep these keys unless they stop working in our door tomorrow for some reason...I'll let you all know how it goes!

Just wanted to let everyone know, I used the Deluxe plan for one night this past Saturday and it worked great. I did not have to get new cards every day and I did not have an issue as long as I told the Castmembers at the sit down restaurants that I was on the Deluxe plan.
